Sebastian has been coughing and sneezing the past few days. No discharge and his eyes and nose look good. He coughs a lot usually followed or preceeded by a sneezing fit. Wish I had one of those ear thermometers - no way I am taking his temp the other way - I like my body parts.

Since he isn't improving, I have arranged to borrow my sister's car in the morning to take him in. Three weeks ago, I took Daphne in for the same thing + worms. Vet said to bring her back in 3 weeks to get the second wormer (also sent home wormer for Seb). At that time, he gave me antibiotics for her coughing and sneezing just in case it was the start of a UTI. So maybe this is worms for Seb or maybe an UTI? Daphne has stopped coughing but still occasionally sneezes.

I thought Seb may have a hairball and have been giving him hairball remedy for two days and nothing is better. He's never had issues with hairballs so don't really think that is it.

He just had a complete checkup with teeth cleaning four weeks ago.

He has always been so healthy and lately it seems like I spend a lot of time at the vet with the both of them. Hopefully, they will be fine soon!

Hope it is nothing serious and that he is a good boy at the vets.

Coughing & sneezing is usually a symptom of a URI(upper respiratory infection). A UTI is a urinary tract infection.
And don't feel bad about that...I'm pretty sure I've mixed them up more than once!

Seb..baby cakes, get better soon!

OOPS! Thank you for understanding what I meant! Different, ummm, ends of the spectrum there
Yes, I am thinking URI - truly hope it isn't UTI! Poor guy just looks all confused when he has a sneezing/coughing fit. Looks at me like, "Well, aren't you going to do something? Help me!"

Thank you
I hope he is good, too. The vet loves him though, so when he decides to be a brat he gets by with it.

Seb just sneezed very hard and blew yellow gunk all over the place. He is miserable. Is this an emergency vet type of thing or do you all think it is okay to wait until 9am tomorrow?

If it is an URI, should I get meds for Daphne, too? She just finished hers from weeks ago.

Thanks

You'll want to discuss the "spreadability factor" with you're vet. With her being a kitten, she is more susceptible to a URI....but if she's healthy....she might not get it. Then again, they could just pass it back & forth. That's why you will want to discuss it with your vet.

You never know....it might not be a URI. Perhaps alleriges?

Took them both to vet this morning. Daphne received her second round of kitten shots. Seb was looked at - vet said he thought it was viral but gave him antibiotics (Z something) anyway, just in case.

Poor Seb tried to be a big tough guy but every time he tried to yell or scream he coughed and sneezed instead
At least the vet got to see what I was talking about.

Daphne just finished a round of anitbiotics almost a week ago, so he wanted to wait to see if she would need them. She is doing okay now, so far.

Poor Seb, he is so pathetic looking. He is lying on my freshly laundered bed, sneezing his yellow gunk all over it
I managed to place an extra sheet over everything before I left for work, so I don't have to sleep in it
Hope that wasn't too icky for everyone!

Forgot to add: Daphne is at 3 lbs now and Seb is 14 lbs even. He has lost weight in the last month, down from 14.8. Guess all that playing with Daphne has went to his waist
