New Kitten toilet trouble!

Hi,

We recently brought home an 8 week old kitten and he is trained to go and poop in his litter tray and sometimes makes a wee there too BUT he still wees on the floor (1m from his litter tray) and in a few other places too.....any suggestions???

Awww.... The kitten is no different than a child learning. Quite young still. Just needs some positive reinforcement. I'm sure you will find some information in the behavior section of the forum but most of that probably references older cats . If you are home I would pay attention to when kitties eats and then keep placing her/him in the box every so often and make sure you tell her how good she is and give her kisses when she does go in the box.

You may need to get another litterbox, some cats like to poop in one and pee in the other, also he is still very young and may not make it to the litter in time so having an extra box or two around the house should help with that.

Hello & welcome to another Sydney-ite. I've never had that problem, my kittens have all used the litter tray by themselves without mishap. The other replies are what I would try. Good luck.

My older cat is also Coco. Kittens are a lot of fun & so active. Blossom my 8 m/o kitten has 2 periods a day where she goes wild, running & jumping all over the house. Given the chance she sleeps all day.
