I picked today of all days to start on spring cleaning... I've got about 6 loads of laundry piled up. One basket is our every day clothes, one load is pet blankets/towels and the rest of the loads are pillows and throw blankets that haven't been washed in awhile. Well, I went upstairs with the first load and realized that we're out of laundry detergent and can't get to the store until tomorrow... and I REALLY need to get this done. My load of white sheets and blankets I just threw in hot water and bleach, I figure that'll get them clean enough, and the pet blankets I can wash the same way. Any suggestions for the rest of the clothes? Can I use dish soap?

I have in the past used dish soap, hand soap, and murphy's oil wood soap when necessary, lol. The murphy's oil is great for getting out greasy stains!

I know baking soda is supposed to get clothes cleaner or something, so maybe throw that in too?

I wouldn't put dish soap in the washer (not sure how that'd turn out
) but i would instead fill up a bathtub full of hot water and add it to that- let the clothes soak then rinse them out thoroughly
that should be safe. You can use baking soda too.

Dish soap is ok in the laundry bot DO NOT EVER try to use it in a dishwasher. It will leave you with a sitcom sized mess of bubbles in the kitchen. Yes, I know this from experience. Even if you only use a few drops it'll foam like there no tomorrow. LOL I usually keep a box of powdered detergent as a back up to the liquid I usually use.

I've used shampoo...it works really well and doesn't suds up as much as dish liquid does.
