Everyone is so talented! I feel embarrassed to post mine now but I`m going to anyway. Feel free to give some advice on how I could improve

This is a natral arch taken near Skara Brae on Orkney

This is a little place my sister tried to buy on Orkney called Stewies.

Last one. Oystercatchers on Scapa Flow beach. Orkney.

Thanks Sarah! I'm not the greatest in Photoshop (have no patience
) but the dandelion pic is my favourite for altered colour. It's actually a set of 3 pictures - from bloom to seed. Here are the first two bloom pictures.

Everyone always says they hate dandelions because they are such a gardening menace, but I think these pics make them look quite attractive. But, that's the whole point of photography, to introduce new perceptions of rather ordinary subjects, right?

It's full colour. Many times I changed the photo to b/w and you couldn't tell the difference - only Nakita's eyes changed. But I sure do miss her - she was a photographer's dream.

That's the little house that Rob and I are currently renovating. It's a century old schoolhouse that needs a lot of TLC. Hopefully we'll be done in the next year or two - it's a ton of work for the two of us! For the pic, I laid down in the grass and took the pic. I thought the trees framed the house in a nice way and made the house almost look like a minature because of the angle.

Thanks for the feedback!
By the way, love the lighthouse pic! The coast is wonderful!

Never be embarrassed to post pics! If I worried what other's might think, I would never post mine!
The best advice I can give is to pick up an intro book on photography and learn the basics on composition, lighting, etc. Also, don't be afraid to use different angles when taking the picture.

I love old buildings. I could spend a lot of time there just checking out all the little details! I'm always driving around looking for unique places. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! I`m going into town tomorrow to get me a book...or two

I have a few but they are a bit confusing. Recently got a better camera but still using the automatic settings as I`m still learning.
Must make more time to read all the books and PRACTICE!

That house had a half collapsed little staircase which would have been nice to play around with but I wasn`t on my own. Lots and lots of places like that there though. That`s why I love going there. Can`t help thinking they must have been munchkins though!

Siggav, I have to say you take some AMAZING photos. I love the first one you posted and the one of the man walking with his cane down what looks like and alley. They are wonderfully shot! Do you use digital or film?

I used to be really into photography until I dropped my SLR camera and broke my lense. I still have the camera and need to get a new lense or more for it, but I just don't have the money. Using a point and shot, low quality camera just doesn't cut it.

I love all of these pictures from everyone though. Just love them.

and I'm digital all the way. I started out actually drawing on the computer and doing digital art. Then I started taking photos to help me practice composition and now I've pretty much stopped drawing and take photos all the time
I'm better at photography than drawing and I really enjoy taking photos.

That is a nice camera, I bought the S5200/5600 a while back and it has been one of my favourite cameras and great to learn settings on

We DEFINITELY need to talk then! LOL!

I've found that my outdoor pics look great with little effort, but it takes a lot to get a perfect indoor pic. I haven't had it for 24 hours yet, and I've already taken a million pics!

A few that I thought came out kinda nice this afternoon:

(subject matter is hard to come by when you're as excited as I am right now!)

There is a great fuji group on flickr, they will help by critquing your photos and tell you how they did things, I have learned a lot from them. You need to have a yahoo account to access flickr if you don't have one.

Of course if you have any questions, feel free to PM me, or my IM info is in my profile, just send me a message

You are all so talented! I love photography but I am not good at it. I have a Canon EOS Rebel TI film camera and a Canon S3 IS digital. The digital has a lot of features I haven't tried yet. I do use the flash a lot because most of the photos I take are indoors. Basically, I just point n shoot. Always dreamed of taking a class so I could learn more about it. I see so many wonderful things I would like to capture. Someday!

Was thinking of getting out to our zoo and playing around with some of the options on the digital.

Please share more photos
I love them!
