Ok sometimes when my 8 month old female cat comes to lie by me she breathes really fast in and out while purring! She doesn't seem to be having a breathing issue just her pattern increases at times... She has been to the vet 5 times in the past two months and no worries on the breathing but is this common with kittens?

Kittens do seem to breath a little faster then older cats, it doesn't help if the kitten's been bouncing around.
Tomas will do this and will also breath faster when he's caught an odd smell.

Just watch your kitten, if she keeps it up and has any other problems, seems out of breath, coughing, sneezing, then maybe you should consider a vet visit. Oh and how does she do with playing? Does she seem to get out of breath at all when you've played with her for a few minutes?

Cats breathing patterns do change when they're purring. It's how they purr actually. Could you just be noticing this?

Yeah she purrs different than my older cat... Its almost as if she is unsure how to pure and breaths faster to make it work! She is extremely active and is never out of breath! She only seems to do this when we are cuddling or when she is curled next to me... Anyother time she breathes completely normal!
