Cat seems to swallow alot

It seems my cat swallows alot, I have never noticed this before, is this normal? This is the same cat that is running from me, not all the time but most of the time. I know everyone said take to a vet, but its hard to do that when ya cant get close to her. She has been a wonderful cat for over 10 years. When I do get near to pet her, she is ok, but as soon as I stop, she moves away. So, what does everyone say about the swallowing...maybe its just me noticing it heck I just dont know what to do.

Has she been vomiting? Often they swallow a lot before throwing up....If you suddenly notice it now, chances are there is something to it. Keep an eye on her and maybe call your vet and ask.

It can also be a sign of an upper respiratory infection, it was one of the things that my vet specifically asked about the last time I had Tomas in for coughing.
Aside from that there could be an acid reflux problem.
Only a vet can tell for sure.
