I like the Fresh Step and Scoop Away for the clumping power, they both clump like a rock
but the perfumey smell and dustiness makes me crazy, so I started mixing the Tidy Cats scooping half and half with either of those 2 litters and Presto!!! the best litter ever, at least to me

I have also used to A&H multi cats and I HATE it, smells worse than Fresh Step and Scoop Away and I agree, even dustier too!

I've recently switched to Target brand scoopable cat litter and I like it a lot! It is just as good as brands such as Tidy Cats or Scoop Away IMO, and it's much cheaper!

what litter is it most like, Jenny? if its most like scoop away, then I can mix it with the Tidy Cats or if its more like Tidy Cats, then I'll do vice-versa

I think it's pretty similar to Tidy Cats. I actually haven't used Scoop Away in awhile, so I can't really remember what that one is like.

I'll have to buy a bucket next time I'm at Target to try it out, with 6 boxes I can use all the savings I can get

I have always used Tidy Cats in the blue bucket. I like it even better since they changed the formula. But just last night while laying in bed I started to calculate how much I spend in cat litter and I spend more on litter than I do on food! So I scrubbed all the boxes out this after noon, and put in a variation so I can see what I like best. One box has Target brand scoopable, 2 boxes have fresh step, 1 box has scoop away, and the last has our regular Tidy cats. I will have to pick up some special kitty next time i'm at Wal-Mart though, as it seems to be popular here. I have used A&H before and didn't like it at all, way too dusty. I have used Swheat scoop also, and although I liked it, the pee was the same color as the litter and I never though I was getting it all out, so I switched back.

I just picked up some cat litter from Costco. It comes in a green container. I don't find it dusty at all and it smells pretty good..this is what it says:

"Litter Purrfect"
All Natual Herbal odor Control with Lemongrass Essence and baking Soda. Scoopable Cat Litter Harder Clumping

It was under $7.00 for 30 pounds.

I also use Walmart Special Kitty for multiple cats. It is the best and most inexpensive brand for three cats!

I like The Tidy Cats with the blue and yellow bag. Ofcourse I do not rememberif it is immediate or long lasting odor control. I have 7 cats and it is THE BEST!

I use the plain ol' Tidy Cats Multicat in the bag...the yellow bag with blue on it, I believe. It's non-clumping, but personally, I don't like the idea of flushing it down the toilet. It can't be great for our septic systems over time, I would think. Plus, Tidy Cat in the bag is significantly cheaper than most, along with Special Kitty's similiar litter type. I scoop the poop out of the boxes once a day, dump the litter only once a week, and once every two days or so, I mix in a cup or two of fresh litter for a clean top-off. It's easy, and I don't feel like it's any less convenient for me than the scoopable litters. Another trick, is take a box of baking soda, and sprinkle some on the bottom of the litter box before adding your fresh litter...this absorbs odors really well in between dumping the box each week.

I don't really worry too much about the dust issue with my kitties and the regular Tidy Cat or Special Kitty. I figure, I'm feeding them Innova cat food, which puts a nice dent in my budget, so I have to cut corners somewhere...so they get the bargain-basement kitty litter.

Um, I'm a little confused? Maybe I missed a post
. I don't flush my clumping litter
. You shouldn't put any clay or clumping litter down the commode- not just because of the septic system, but because it can clog up your pipes, even if you are on sewer
. If it doesn't say "flushable- safe for septic systems" on it (whatever it is- catlitter, wet wipes for kids -like Kando, paper towels, etc.), then you shouldn't flush it
.

I use the clumping because I can get the pee clumps out, and each box lasts me at least a month (usually 1 -28 lb container for 2-3 boxes), depending on how often my 4 indoor/outdoor cats decide to use the indoor box, or go outside
.

I use the clumping litter too, and I just collect the clumps and poos in a bag...umm several times a day, and throw them away. No flushing here. I don't even trust the flushable stuff to be flushed w/o problems.

I have used the regular gravel type Tidy Cat in a bag, usually just when I have small kittens as they won't eat that stuff like they do the sandy type of litter. I don't blame them though, because the smell gets to me real fast (from the urine)...I throw it away every day when I'm stuck using it for some reason. I've never been fond of that stuff.

Yeah, it's smart to not flush even the flushable stuff, in my opinion. I just don't trust that it won't do damage over time...I forgot, however, that most scoopable litters aren't actually flushable anyway.

I hope this isn't bad - but I just buy whatevers on sale! As long as its not dusty, and its clumpable. I like Tidy Cat - that's what I'm using now. I buy the biggest bags possible and store them in a plastic can with a lid

I tried a "flushable" clumping litter once- it wouldn't go down! It floated!
And the more I thought about it (flush, flush, flush...) I really wasn't comfortable with it with my septic tank either, so just bagged it (figuratively and literally!
) and went back to Tidy Cats
.
