Hi everyone! Sorry for disappearing for a while, I didn't have internet access.

Anyway, an update on the kittens: they're a little over 2 weeks now and growing very fast!! The runt is already almost the same as the other two.

I have a question about Nyx moving the kittens. Starting last week she's been bringing one of the kittens into our bedroom during the middle of the night. It's always one of the striped ones (not the runt) but it's not the same kitten every time. She only brings in one of them. The only time she moved one during the daytime was when she put it in this corner of the dining area (like 3 feet away from the nest). She only moved that one and when I found her she was just sitting with it and the others were still in the box.

Why would she move only one of the kittens? (and not even the same one each time) She also never moved a kitten to the same spot again, in our bedroom. Always a different spot. Should I move the rest of the kittens to the spot she brings one to? Or should I just leave it there and have the kittens be separated?

I wish I could help you but that baffles me. I have no idea why she would do that. I'm sure someone can give you some advice though. Keep us posted.

i did see this thread before , but i dont really have advice for you , i was hoping someone would have posted advice for you by now.
is she a first timem um?
is she a young mum?
my mums have always moved the hole litter never just the odd one here and there so i dont know why.
also we always advise them to be kept in a closed of room so they can feel secure and for this excate reason so they cannot move the kittens to unsafe places ect..
do you have other pets ? young children?

Yeah, she's like 5-6 months old and this is her first litter. I never thought about that extra feeding thing... The one time when I left them alone for a while she was just sitting there and the kitty was sleeping. But I don't know about the other times :x

edit: Oh, no other pets and no childrens

You might want to confine her to 1 room for a few weeks. She is a young mom and can be confused, but sounds like things are going good.

i agree with jenny , she is so very young to be a mum and probley still adjusting and very confused. when i had a young mum cat here when ever her kittens cried she would get worried and *try to pick them up and move them somewhere else , or she would lie right on top of them , she really didnt know what to do with them.
keep a check on the weights ,as long as there feeding and mum is cleaning them everything should be ok , but keep her in one room only.

Haha yeah she does lay right on top of them sometimes :x We live in a single bedroom apartment so do you think it would be a good idea to confine her to the bedroom? Or is bathroom better?

I do get a little worried sometimes because the kittens aren't very active though they are gaining weight steadily. The only time they seem really energetic is when Nyx goes into the box, then they start meowing like crazy crawling all over the place and sometimes out of the box. Or when I pick them up, then they'll start moving around a lot and stuff.

That is really young to have kittens,It could be she is not expierienced enough.

The main reason why they move them is if they think they are in danger.

As to the runt im not sure im baffled

the bedroom would be a great idea , i always set up my mums in my bedroom.

at 2 weeks old they arnt all over the place , give them a few days and they will be . by the sounds of things everything is going really well.
