Do you have an appt time you have to stick to, or are they ok with you walking in when you can?

If you have any time to spare, I would ignore them...that should make them come out...it helps w/mine anyway. Then you can regroup and use some tricks.

trixie,
i hope you get your babies to the vet and all goes well.
getting them into the carrier can be tricky. one time when i just couldnt get my big girl in, i put her in a towel like a baby, to hide her claws and kinda just put her in and closed the door quickly. it worked.
you can also put the towel a little over their eyes, so they dont know what is going on.

as far as foods, i also tried different wet and dry foods since the recalls started.
my goal was to feed wet only, so i never give into my big girls dry food addiction at this point.
i feed all flavors of felidae wet, innova wet, evo wet, and eagle pack wet and sometimes california natural wet as well.
at the moment they share a large can of wet food a day, and 1/8 cup of dry at night, just so that i dont get waken up too early by hungry kitties.

I wonder if a can of wet that you fed, plus the 1/2 cup of evo is just too much food.
evo is very rich, and very high caloric, maybe they just overate and purged.

I hope the vet can find out whats going on, i also found california natural dry rice and chicken to be very good (simple formula just chicken and rice and vitamins; just in case you dont want to feed Nutro anymore)

Good luck hun!

YOU are NOT a bad MEOWMY .... EVO is a 50/ 50 food ...50% of those who try do great the other 50% dont ..... I think Felidea chn and rice is simple enough for getting tummys back ... or boil some chn breast and rice

Trixie~~

Yikes! I come back from getting babies down for a nap, showering, feeding the cats and find you had another issue
Sorry!!!

My cats have always been good about their carriers. But something I have done to facilitate matters~~

Every so often I get my carriers out, place something snuggly and familiar in them (lots of places have really cheap bed pads for this very purpose, but even a tshirt of yours would be good). I open the carriers and let my cats explore on their terms. Leave atreat in the carrier, outside of carrier....

Some people spray the synthetic cat pheromone spray "Feliway" into a carrier before usage (@20min prior) to help calm kitty.

Towels are helpful also, as another poster suggested, and you once you get kitty in the carrier, they might feel more secure if you drape the towel OVER the carrier.

Some folks have to struggle no matter what and it just is what it is

When cats get all riled up as yours are probably now, it's best to let them chill for a bit. Hopefully you can get them to the vet soon enough.

Oh someone mentioned California Natural. This is also an excellent food that I have had recent luck with, and has no recall issues as did the Nutro (selective issues, but still, people are wary of course).

I know this has to be beyond frustrating--we all have been there one time or another.

Also - see if there is a vet that will do house calls in your area. Some vets will actually do this - you just have to ask.

Ok so we went to the vet! Weird as this seems my vet recommended taking them off of the wet until they are use to the EVO! That way we can rule out if they are vommitting from just EVO or from a combination of EVO and felidae wet! I am suppose to keep them just on EVO until friday and then call to check back in! They are fine... Because I missed my appointment I had to do a drop off with both of them (the vet see's them when they have spare time this way) luckily at no extra charge! I called crying telling the receptionist I was going to be late and she said thats no problem... apparently she had misinformed me so the drop off charge was free! Now my bank is empty a $100 bucks I really could use, but at least I know the kitties are ok! BTW I do leave the kittens carrier out at all times in my bedroom and she never use to be trouble getting in until today! Maybe that's because she has seen the vet 5 times in the past 3 months! Poor baby!

ahhh...the rule out. Well that makes sense after too many food variables are thrown in the mix.

Were any tests run? That is good news about the fee and how your vet worked the cats in.

Hopefully you guys can find a trusted plan incorporating wet & dry. In the meantime I would encourage as much water drinking as possible. Offer a few different water stations, not just the main one. I always keep one in my 'master' bathroom, since my babies are all with me at night, this way I know they have quick access.

Yeah I knew the food situation was my fault! Usually I gradually get them on a new food mixing new with old! This time I ran out of old and just went with new! I figured it would bite me in the a** but the store I went to didn't carry the old so I figured It might work out.... Wrong and bad accusation! Next time I will plan ahead better for the sake of my kitties as well as myself!

Trixie, don't sweat it. Some cats have such sensitive GI tracts that even careful transitioning can lead to vomiting and gastric upset.

I have one little guy who will puke if the wind blows west, kwim?

When I start a new dry I use a large/tall tupperware container of sorts. I pour a level of new on the bottom, and as I go upward, it's a mixture of old and new, with the most old as you get to the top. So when I open the container to feed, it's already an easier mixture.

When I do wet food changes I dont' mix (that has caused more upset here) but I offer smaller portions at first.

You'll all find a routine that works. Hang in there.

It's never a waste if it puts your mind at ease.
Good luck getting the food thing worked out.

Sweetheart, I would have a long talk with that bf of yours. Cats can't be just kicked to the curb because they puked. It's not THEIR fault that their puking it's because their food is being changed for whatever reason.

When you switch food, you need to do it gradually so they don't get upset stomachs from it. I feed PHX Purina cat chow indoor formula (the green bag) I don't feed him any canned food or anything else, except treats of course. The only reason why I would ever change brands is if #1 food recall #2 they don't like it or their not getting enough nutrients from it.

Good luck getting this solved!
