Yeah I saw that on the news yesterday,It really is sickening

The bloke who owns it said he is 'conserving' the tigers but It showed Tiger corpses
piled up in freezers,to be sold for the 'aphrodisiac' market The reporters did DNA
tests on meat they were served at their Tiger park restaurant and that said it was
Tiger meat they were served Sickening

This is absolutely appalling! Too much so, in fact, for the Lounge. Let's move this to IMO.

Isn't this illegal? I mean - they are breaking laws. Why hasn't anything been done?
I'm not saying that I support it, but remember, China has a lot of different characteristics than the U.S. or Europe. What seems barbaric to us, is everyday to them.

Some of our sales men go to China and come back telling us about the live chicken that was killed right in front of them and prepared.

The article does say that it is illegal:

The waitress clearly does not care that she is selling meat and wine from endangered species. She is not worried that selling them is against Chinese and international law, and helps to fuel the poaching that is driving tigers to extinction.

I don't think they really enforce the law. From what I read, Chinese officials are their customers. Besides, even if someone comes along to "enforce" the law, I'm sure serving up a plate of tiger meat and some tiger wine at half price would be enough to mollify him. Sheesh~ The waitress and people at that farm sound really proud of what they're doing. That's what really gets me.

I think thats the saddest, most horrifying thing I've seen
post #9 of 25
They totally disgust me. First they kill thousands of dogs because they are to stupid to require rabies shots, then they poison our pets food, now this.
I think we should boycott the Olympics and quit buying so much crap from them.

If we stopped buying from them, prices would rise dramatically. Walmart would not longer have a but a for a logo.

Thanks, I just read the first sentence about the waitress not caring.

absolutely disgusting...

It's sickening, totally disgusting. Animal welfare should be spread across the board. They are doing this for a 'delicacy' not because it is a vital part of their diet. Those poor animals need rescuing.
I`m sure I`ve read on anouther site that china is the only developed country NOT to have any animal welfare laws or regulations.

The tigers do not suprise me as I`ve seen the PETA video of what they do on their fur farms. It is truley horrific. One of the most sickening things I`ve even seen.

Then theres the sharks fin soup...chinese medicine...

I try not to buy anything I know has come from china.

Dont think I even want to open that link up, for some reason!!
If this is well known enough to make the news, why hasn't anyone stopped it?????!!!!!!
This just turns my stomach...Do these people have no feelings??
That is absolutely revolting...how would they feel if we did that to them?

Because no one seems to care and the high officials are usually bribed anyway. Someone outside of China would have to stop them if possible.

I'm with you on this. China's human and animal rights records leave a LOT to be desired. I don't think they should ever have been rewarded with hosting the Olympic Games.

I have been boycotting Chinese products wherever I possibly can (i.e. when I can actually find out that's where they're made) as a result of the 50,000 dogs situation. I can't believe such things happen in the world, even though I know they do every day.

We do the same exact thing here- we check labels of just about everything we buy. If it's made in China- we try to find an alternative to avoid supporting them.

I do not buy anything from China either

I feel sickened by what I just read.It needs to be stopped.
We have a chinese supermarket near us and it is full of the most vile items you can imagine-including baby festered eggs-with little dead ducklings in them.
