Yes, its time for the new batch of barn kittens to be born, and our first litter was born over the weekend (the first that we know about at least). Blackie had 3 kittens, 2 grey and 1 tabby. Unfortunately, the tabby died the day after she was born
but the other 2 seem to be thriving. The best thing is, she had them on the back porch of my MIL's old house in a plastic dog house put there for shelter (yes, I know the sheets need changed)! Her last litter she had in the woods and we didn't see them until they were ready to start eating solid food (I always feed the cats on the back porch). So, I'm just glad she trusts me enough to have them where I can keep an eye on them. They are so cute! I haven't tried to pick them up yet because I'm afraid Blackie will move them if she feels they are threatened.

Blackie is such a sweetie! I tried to make her an indoor cat...she will come in if she's in the mood, but not for long. She much prefers it outside. And, before anyone asks, we are getting the barn cats fixed as we can afford it.

Here are a few pics. I didn't want to take alot because Mommy wasn't too happy (and she wouldn't pose for a pic) but I'll take more later when they're older!

They seem to be doing great. Like I said I haven't picked them up yet and checked, but my MIL (who is very experienced with barn cats) says I should be able to in a week or so. After the first week the mother starts relaxing and lets someone they trust get close to them.

Someone here wanted to take at least one of Blackie's first litter, but I accidently erased the PMs. So, if you're reading this, we have another that will be ready to go in about in about 3-4 months. I think the member was from Virginia...fairly close to where we are. Let me know if you're still interested and I'll keep you up to date on these two.
