Heard that on the news this morning. At least, he won't need embalming - he's been pickled for years.

Oh Cindy - I couldn't help but laugh!

Yeltsin will be remembered well in the West and as the cause of the collapse of the Soviet Union by the Russians.

I'm young enough I didn't know a whole lot about him until I read that article. Now all I can think is "Good riddance!" Did he do anything truly useful?

A Communist Soviet Union might still be in existence without him, instead of democratic members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (or the EU, as the Baltic states of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia now belong to that).

I don't know if I'm thinking of the same event but one of my best friends is a Marine and was stationed over there in Moscow as an embassy guard when the coup took place.
