Well you know where I ended up -how did I get there??
Yesterday we went up to the farm as Neil needed more rocks for his wall.
We were on our third load with the tractor and I was putting the rocks on this thing called a stone bolt(??) looks like a metal sled. Anyhow second to last rock I was rolling over (it was about 50 pounds) as I positioned it on the stone bolt it I lost my grip and it fell (only about 3-4 inches) smashing my ring finger between two rocks. I knew it was bad-I took off my glove and the tip of my left ring finger had blood pump out like a volcano. I said we better go to hospital. We were way in the back of the field-I squeezed finger hard while standing on the back of the tractor. Neil had to unload the rocks onto the trailer and put away the tractor. I rinsed off finger w/ antibacterial gel (much pain)-no water only gatorade (yes you can use that to rinse a wound). Calledand found out closet place to go (only 20 minutes away) I was lucky the cloinic was not busy-the doc saw me-said wasn't as bad as it looked!
Sad news is my finger swelledup so fast he had to cut off wedding ring

Cleaned, numbed, nine stiches-3 xrays (nothing broken).Am on antibiotics and vicoden for pain. I changed gauze tomorrow-its swollen and I cannot work until stitches removed (rats). So typing is hard right now.
So some vibes would be good!! It was like you squashed a grape is how the tip of my finger split.
On the other hand my blood pressure was pretty good!!

Ouch Gail,
hope it heals OK. Sorry to hear about your ring, will you be able to get it re-made?

Under the cats, mostly.
EEeeew ouch!! Kissies for your boo-boo
I know it's a very important ring to lose, given that it's soo well loved - but rather lose the ring than your finger. I'm sure that the ring can be re-made though, assuming of course you have it still - any jeweller worth their salt will be able to put it together again for you. They did a wonderful job with a ring of mine once that had to be resized - it has a very special and unique finish on it, and once they were finished, you'd never have guessed it had ever been worked on!

Get well soon hun

You know, you can have your wedding ring made into a necklace. My Grandma did that after she had a bad injury to her hand.

Ouch!! Painful just to read your post. Hope it starts feeling better soon. I am sorry for your ring, but if you take it to a jewler they can make it whole again. Take it easy and keep your hand elevated to help to decrease the swelling.

I stopped at the jewelery store that has done prior work on the ring-yet they can fix but I was looking at new band/restyle-OMG alot of $$$$$. They though that I should try to do an insurance claim to cover part of the cost.

Ok- that looks painful. Make sure you keep it clean and follow up with your doctor just to be on the safe side. I am sending "no pain" vibes your way!
