How do you tell if a cat is pregnant? When I returned to my apartment today from a weekend at home, there was the sweetest little dilute tortie hanging around. She followed me to the dumpster and back, and every time I open the front door she is there. She looks healthy enough, but is pretty dirty and scratching like she has fleas. Her belly is pretty big and tight, but i don't know if she might be pregnant or worms, or what. I put some food and water out for her, thats all I can do for now. Any tips?

it can be hard with a maybe stray cat , for all you know she could have had a litter not to long ago so checking her nipples might not work, the only for sure way to tell is a vet check , if she has flees then she more then likly has worms , but that might not be why she has a big belly.

Are you keeping this little girl or looking to foster her? If so, can you take this little one to a vet? This will clarify a lot...if she is pregnant, if she has worms, approximate age, if she has any health issues.

If you are nor planning to keep her, might be an idea to get in touch with a rescue place that can help her.

I would absolutely love to keep her, she is beautiful and sweet as can be! But that is impossible right now. I put out food and water for her, but there are no rescue missions or shelters open since its sunday here. I would bring her in over night, but since I do not know what her health status is, I don't want to expose my cats (I don't have a room where I could seperate her). If she is still around tomorrow I may take her to the shelter, but Im just worried that its someones pet around here. Hard situation to be in!

Yes completely understand. I think for now you are doing your best
And wise not to expose her to your cats. Good idea to take her to the shelter tomorrow if shes around. Does she look like she wants to hang around for a while? Silly question, but does she have a collar on?

ps - Milo and Marlee are gorgeous

So far she's stuck around. I can't help but peek outside every now and again, and she has been lounging in the shade under cars. She has no collar. I can't tell if she is just lost, or was owned but has been dumped. She is not shy, and actually keeps trying to come in my house if I am coming in or out.

And thank you, I actually need a new pic for Milo now, hes gotten to be a big boy!
