We just went for a grocery shop, because there was no food in the house.....well, okay, that's a lie. But it was one of those situations where you have peanut butter, but no bread, cereal but no milk, etc. No food suitable to make a full meal, either. So, we hit the store and we did quite well. Not much in the junk food area at all, except ice cream (it's nice weather here, so I thought it'd be a good treat) and some light popcorn. We're trying to eat more fruits and veggies, but it's hard because I have fresh fruit syndrome, which is a raw fruit/vegetable intolerance associated with allergies.

Anyway, I'm planning to make chicken parmigiana for supper tonight and I've just thrown an egg and sausage casserole in the oven for a late lunch. The apartment is going to smell delicious today!

It's better if I do. Most fruits and vegetables make my throat and inner ears itch if I eat them raw. It's annoying. Some are worse than others, though, so I'll still eat raw banana, pears and occasionally an in season fruit like peach, then just take a benedryl if the itch is bothering me a lot. Watermelon is so good, but causes a huge itch, so I haven't had it in years because it's just not worth it. The only one I'm absolutely not supposed to eat under any cirucmstances is raw apple. It gives me chest pains. I asked my allergist if there was anything I could do about that and he said "Yes, please don't eat any more raw apples!"
I loved apples, though, so I really miss it.

Oh well, guess I'll just have to eat my daily servings of fruit in pies

That's not so bad!

My favorite veggie dish is vegetables drizzled with a little olive oil and roasted: winter squash, carrots, red onion, bell peppers (red, yellow, green), cauliflower, broccoli, new potatoes, sweet potatoes, brussels sprouts, etc. I like to add mushrooms, too. The red onion is particularly good with a beef roast. Yum!

Now what am I going to have for lunch?
