Hello. As I have posted already, Pumpkin had her 6 kittens 10 days ago; all are doing wonderful. But, my question is if anyone could tell be something to feed to help mom gain some much needed weight. She is eating dry kitten food, plus some canned kitten food. She drinks alot of water. We give her a vitamin everyday. She is not losing weight but, I am just worried, She is pettite normally but I am just worried that she needs something more to eat; to keep her healthy as she nurses the wonderful 6 kitties. Thanks for any ideas on what I could feed her

Im not a nutritional expert - but it sounds like you are doing everything right...kitten food and vitamin.

Probably best to call your vet and have a chat with them? Maybe they can recommend a prescription diet which is more nutritious than what you are giving her. Or maybe they can allay your concerns?

What brand food are you feeding her? I find Royal Canin kitten food great for maintaining mum cat's weight when nursing kittens.

i 100% agree with minxie , a lot of cat mums do stay slim while nursing as long as she is healthy and not under weight she should be fine , make sure there is always dry kitten food so she can free feed is possible , i normally feed my mums 3-4 times a day with wet food.

Thanks
I did call the vet and she said that it sounds like she is doing ok and that I shouldn't worry. She told me the same things that you all did (except for that brand of kitten food
) I am feeding her science diet both wet and dry kitten. I warmed up the food just a few seconds before I gave her the wet (vet suggestion, she said that it made it smell better) and she did eat it. I know that I am just worried for nothing but, I just want to make sure she and her babies stay healthy. Thanks again for your
help!
