UPDATED.....Well, hubby called and Koda has been in 3 rings AB, so far and got 1st BOD and BOC on all 3. The 4th SP ring only 1st BOC, none of the 3 rings did they call Koda back for a final where he got 1st BOD, we are waiting to hear if his number wil be called for the 4th ring for a final. Then he has 2 more rings left 1 AB and 1 SP today, and then wait to see if he finals in either of these 2 rings, or in the 4th ring.
I am going crazy not being up there. I am just glad that CJ and Koda Bear are enjoying themselves. I know I am very excited to just have him out there, and I look forward to hearing what the judges think of him. I am sure I will have another post by the end of the day to let you know how he finished up for today. No matter how he does, he will be our big baby, but we want to win....LOL
Thanks for listening to me ramble, I am just excited, and bored laying in bed day after day.

I do have a question, I am still novice at showing, and since I am not up there, and going off my DH, why would a judges in an 3 AB rings, gave him 1st BOD, and him not final in any of the rings? Please don't feel I am upset, I am just trying to figure out how that works. I am not there, and I know being the last show of the season, Koda is up against some beautiful competition. I just had the assumption that typically if a kitten gets 1st BOC and 1st BOD, that would have pretty much guarnteed him a place in the first ring final. Can someone explain this? Another great reason for this thread, this is a question I didn't have before, and now I would love to know the answer from our experienced exhibitors. Thank you in advance. This is kitten division, and while we want him to do well, we want him to do his best at 8 months old.

While Best of Division or Best of Breed does qualify for finals, that doesn't mean its a given. The judges can only pick so many - usually 10 for AB, 5 for SP. Sometimes a judge will like a Best of Breed and the 2nd Best of Breed and want them both in the finals over another breed that got its Best of Breed.

Today one judge put up 2 maine coon kittens in the finals and Charlie didnt' win, and another put the 2 exotic sh's in the finals and Charlie didn't get a final - even tho he was Best of Breed in each ring.

We haven't forgotten about this request, but as Huggles commented earlier, it is still being discussed. I will bring it up again and see if we can get something going.

As for the GCCF's rule, personally, I think it makes sense and perhaps if such a new forum comes to pass here, we should make it a ~courtesy~ (not a rule) to be discrete about such things. For those showing in GCCF, maybe you could wait to post until after the show? Just a thought.

Gaye,

Perhaps you could post a sticky of the home pages of the associations or the website of where the associations show calendar is. CFA, ACFA, TICA, GCCF, etc. and then people would look up the calendar and see when the shows were.

Those that can advertise which show they are going, can post it, those in GCCF can post the results, but still would not have to tell they would be at a particular show.

Sounds like a good idea. I've got 3 kittens lined up for the upcoming show season and it would be nice to have a show forum to post about them in.

Nial, I've been trying to figure this out for months now. What is the official "show season", and what does it mean?

The official Show Season start May 1 and runs to the following April 30. So the new "season" would be 2007-2008 (May 1, 2007 - April 30, 2008)
That's for all associations in the US.

Its the time period where all cats shown and registered are scored for awards in the association.

Actually, to be MORE specific, the show season starts on the 1st weekend of May and ends on the last weekend of April

So, last weekend is the end of the '06-07 show season.

Just to clarify further if you will, you can collect grand points over time but a Regional/National win is calculated over one show year (season).

Unfortunately, we won't be getting a new sub-forum for Show News and Brags at this time. It was a good idea and one I will continue to support, but for now, sorry, Folks. Maybe in the future.

I still think a sticky with the links to the show dates/registry websites would be helpful, like GK suggested.
