However, chocolate is NOT brown and is not an accepted color. It is a mutation of the brown/black gene. The tail tip on a chocolate is not black and neither is the pads and nose leather.

You are getting chocolate mixed up with brown/black. Brown (every color of brown from charcoal to sorral) is genetically a black cat but chocolate is not genetically a black cat.
And yet people are still registering chocolates as brown and showing up at the show hall with them. That is what I am saying. TICA doesn't require photo proof of the color of your cat to register it. You could in theory register a seal lynx as a black silver and know one would be the wiser if that cat never left your home.

Last show season I watched a brown spotted bengal go from no title to supreme and this cat has orange/pink paw pads!

I also saw a beautiful charcoal spotted bengal registered as a silver black spotted. He was clearly not silver, the hairs were charcoal down to the skin, and yet he won division several times and got at least 2 best of breed with finals.

Even the judges can't read the standard and stick to it.

I remember that cat, his coloring was similar to Jacks but not really. This cat was really dark. I knew there was something different about him but as a non-breeder or shower I would have never known what that difference was without Nial explaining it to me.

I believe that! I know that I have had more than one charcoal brown that could have easily passed as a charcoal silver. I would never show them as such though.

If you can't have the judges doing their job in checking paw pads, etc......will not comment

I did learn at the ACFA show that ALL types of the spotted are shown in one class (round/solid, arrowhead spots, pawprint spots, and the rosette pattern)

Nial do you have any pics of arrowhead spots or the pawprint spots?

Bengal breeders are trying to get the breed standard changed in terms of paw pad color. ALC's have different variety of colors of paw pads other than black so it dosen't make sense to put only black in the standard.
They also want to change the standard from "spottedbelly" to "patterened belly" bengals marbles ususally have more of a patterened belly rather than a spotted. Many of my marbles also actually have rosettes on the belly as well.

Anyway, maybe that's why they aren't as dilligent about checking paw pads.

Same thing at TICA shows too, all spotted shown in same class regardless of type of spotted pattern.

I'm not Nial but I doodled up an arrowhead rosetta and a pawprint rosettaed spot

Basically an arrowhead spot is a triangular spot and an arrowhead rosetta is a two toned triangular spot. A pawprint rosetta is a rosetta that doesn't have an unbroken circle of black around it but has instead multiple smaller (often with one bigger and a few smaller) black spots around the same darker than the background colour spot so that they look like a unified spot rather than completely seperate which they would be if there wasn't the middle colour.

Nikita has two large arrowhead rosettas on her flank. They're easy to spot in the photo I posted of her in the Bengal and Ocicat thread.

Im sorry I havent been back on forum I have just lost my beautiful future stud cat , to a tumour on his pancreas and it has devastated me he was only 13 months old. The surgeon said she didnt know how he managed to carry on it was very aggressive nothing could be done and they let him go on the table. A big big hole is left in my heart - he was such a gorgeous boy. I will send some pics of the kittens to you to post for me Gary if that is ok. Many thanks for offering much appreciated.
