That, to me, is our greatest shame as a nation.
But we are targeted because of our close alliance with the US, though, mostly. This has been outlined in a number of statements by insurgent groups. I am ashamed of being Australian at the moment and especially ashamed that we have allied ourselves so closely with the US. I am ashamed of our government and I am ashamed of our involvement in this war.
I also agree that of course, as humans, we want to dominate. But not everyone wants global domination like your president and his administration. Domination over their own nation, or possibly a few surrounding nations, yes. But WORLD domination, no. That's reserved entirely for the US and anyone who gets in the way is in danger of having democracy imposed on them, too.
Lastly, there absolutely is legal and illegal war. Otherwise why is there international law? Why are there war crimes? Why are people prosecuted for war crimes and crimes against humanity? Why are there international courts like the Hague Tribunal, why was there Nuremberg? There are rules of war and there are laws of war - international, universally recognised. There is absolutely illegal and legal war, absolutely.
PS - Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands - these are all countries that are members of the UN who are NOT third world countries. And, guess what? The US is a member too. Even if only in name and not in spirit.
With out the US the UN is as toothless as my grandmother. Should be moved out of here, hmm, perth sounds like a good place
Please, give me a break. The UN is just as corrupt as trying to do business in china. 60% of the UN is made up of countries that are not free electled govts..i dont count germany and france, they where to busy getting kick backs from iraq.
lol the only rule of war is WIN, or pay the price for losing. Nuremberg was cause the allies won. If they had not won. The final soulation would now maybe be seen as one of the greast idea ever. international law or any law, is as good as the guns that back up the ideas of the law. The whole idea of legal or illlegal war is just makes me laugh. ITs only illlegal for the losing side
every goverment in the world, wants to dominate there people there area of the world or biggger. its just the way it is. You can take tihs as you want.
but i have spent a life time reading history, and the history of war. I dont see anything the US is doing as being to take over the world. they gave over the oil fields to the iraq, did not keep them, if it was over oil there are much better places to take over. That are withn i few hours plane ride. AND could even be said was LEGAL(since you like that word) since a goverment Stole millions of dollars worth of investments. SO would you say that would be legal to go in and take back stolen goods?
by the way you are being targted cause they see your country as the issue, stealing there goods. you are hated, due to your country actions on a commerical business, and cause you push around the little guys in your area. I am sure there are some that will see you as being allied to the US, but well, you have to make choice at sometime as to which side you are on. or someone will tell you what choice to follow.
