I'm reminded of a pic that was making the rounds on the internet. A rodent of some kind in his cage - with 5 cats intently staring at him.

arrrrg. I was told from the gerbil forum that this is a no, no....
They said my cat may hurt the gerbils. perhaps damage there tail....he is declawed so that is not a worry....Please don't give me a growling about declawing....
They said he will try to knock down the cage but I will fasten it to the table when I get home from work...

I won't lecture you about declawing since you already know

I love gerbils! I had several at one time. The only tip I can give you is perhaps a clamp or something like that on the doors. My cats found a way to open those type of doors - not a good thing.

He really is enjoying them. Too cute! What does he make of the hermit crab now?

I have two gerbils of my own. My kitties love them, too. I guess my advice is to invest in a large fish tank. A cat cannot knock that over. The bars on the cage you have....gerbils will chew on them & can bloody their noses.

I have two Gerbils in a 20 gallon tank. I would think a 30 gallon tank or a reptile tank would work for four!
