Recently one of our three cats unfortunately had to have a leg removed. Though he seems to be adapting nicely the other two cats now avoid him or hiss at his presence. It is very dissapointing as they all formerly got along so well. Any suggestions to remedy this situation? It has only been about a week since his return.

I'd say it's more about him smelling different from being at the vets than only having 3 legs.

You could try 'the vanilla trick'. Dab a little vanilla under the chin and at the tail base on each cat so they all smell the same.
