This is a story from my state, Western Australia, but I felt that you guys might find it interesting. I wanted to share because my brother was one of the prosecutors who put these monsters away for life.
In 2005, two men snatched a 14-year-old boy off the street, kept him hostage in their home for nearly three weeks, and during that time committed a number of depraved and heinous abuses upon him. They were caught by chance - a woman having a cigarette outside her work noticed them acting strangely, and instead of ignoring her hunch, went to the police and reported them - thereby enabling the police to identify one of the men and obtain a search warrant for their house.
The men pled guilty to all charges, except the one of conspiracy to commit murder. It was the prosecution's allegation that after they were `finished' with the boy, that they planned to murder him. They found evidence to support this at their house - including maps of rural bushland areas known in Western Australia as a dumping ground for bodies (including a victim of the Claremont Serial Killer - who still remains at large after nearly 10 years).
Yesterday they were convicted of all charges, and face life in prison.
Here's the story
We do not have the death penalty in Australia, and I'm not sure if it would apply in this case, however, these men will face a dangerous and very violent life in prison, as do all convicted paedophiles. GOOD.
I am not in favour of the death penalty, but sometimes, when I read about a story such as this, I wonder - do you think paedophiles should be executed or castrated - especially if found guilty of crimes with a murder charge included?
