I am so excited! I've been looking forward to this for months and I finally did it! I can't wait for it to get here.

I can look at cat pictures with blazing speed!

Peanut butter jelly time

And I'm getting a free printer along with it for my sister. More baby pictures! Now!

I went all out! I've never owned a new computer in my life. I bought this one: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...1F78&nclm=iMac
The 17-in iMac with the 2.0 GHZ. And I upgraded it to 2GB memory and wireless keyboard and mouse, and got iWorks preinstalled.

This is going to be ridiculous. I currently have an IBM thinkpad, which is nice, but it is at least 6 years old! I have cable internet and the computer can't keep up with it
I'm just going to sit in front of it drooling and saying "Wow" the whole first...week... I have it.

And it has a built-in camera!!!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Mac Ownership. You will, from this point on, wonder why you ever owned a PC, ever, and will never ever own one again

Yep. They're that good.

My Mac is like 4 years old and it's still better than my parents' 2 year old PC with almost identical specs.

Congrats! I was excited when I ordered my new computer too! It couldn't get here fast enough. Then came the daunting task of reloading all of my 3D graphics...and that took weeks.

I actually took only a brief hiatus from Mac for this computer. My family's first computer ever (we were late bloomers, what can I say? We still own record players) was the very very first iMac. My sister has the G4. We've always been a Mac family. And I agree, I've always liked them better. People who say that only idiots have them because they're so user-friendly make me confused. Why would you want a computer that was harder to use?! It's not like it does more. Pllh.

Although this trusty little IBM has served me very well, for 400$ and lasting me 3 years! I'm sure it will do well in it's future home with my mom too.

Anyway, thank you all for the congrats! I am little miss ansty pants now!

Wishing I were anywhere but here
That's awesome! Congrats!!
I know the feeling of being able to get a new computer and it's always exciting and at the same time suspenseful just waiting for it to arrive!
I've never had a MAC. Always IBM or PC. I've been hearing some good things about them and may look into it when the time arrives to get another. Mine is only a year and a half old.
It was about time you got yourself a new one! I hope that it is everything you wanted and more!

With all the customs and upgrades I got
it should ship by Tuesday and be here at the latest by the end of the month.

I can't wait! I just have to figure out how to fix this one so it is as easy as possible, for my mommie. She's not the most computer savvy person ever

Thanks you guys! I have never spent this much money on something in my entire life. The next most expensive thing is my futon...
But I am so excited and I can't wait to see all the cool stuff it can do!

Oh, and I promise pictures of Zissou.

That's why I bought mine...I use it record myself and my students. The built-in mic isn't bad and it's compatibe with the line-in mic I have for my ancient mini-disc player if I want better sound. It comes with GarageBand, which you can do limited editing, but I have ProTools for school.

I only froze my computer once, and it was because I was running...wait for it...16 programs simultaneously. My Mac occassionally has to save me from myself.

And yeah, they've improved a ton since they brought Steve Jobs back. I hear he's kind of a jerk, but you gotta hand it to him...he actually DID build a better mousetrap. He's not like some hedge-fund maintener person who makes billions doing nothing, he actually improved their product and brought their company back from the dead. And his product actually does improve the quality of my technological life by tons!
