I posted something similar a while ago,but anyway here goes.I placed a deposit on a lovely little kitten who i will be picking up in the future. She had a hernia and was operated on and has now had a secomd operation.
Anyway i was talking with someone-not from a forum who's relatives cat had a hernia all its life and it seems to have been a delicate situation. Can anyone advise on this? Will there be problems in the future for taaking this kitten on and if so,like what?does anyone have e xpereinces of kittens/cats with hernias.
I just want to find out as much as possible as the date is getting closer and not to sound harsh because i love this little kitten but there is a possibility of taling its sibling instead.

Ginger had a hernia, but I had it fixed when she was spayed.

Because a belly-button hernia if not closed can allow the cat's intestines to literally fall through the whole, it HAS to be closed to prevent internal damage to the cat.

If the hernia is successfully closed, there should be no issues in the way of the cat having a good, active, healthy life.

It depends on the hernia. My Fafeena, who will turn 14 years young this summer, has a hernia from her spay. She's been living with it for a year now, no problems.

Her intestinal lining is uber thin, being 14 years old. When she got spayed, she was too active(vet told me I'd have no problem keeping a 13 y/o cat calm), causing a hernia. It was fixed, but tore open again. There is no fix to it anymore & it does not seem to affect her at all.

My Little Blanca is 13, she has had a hernia since birth. Her mom had one and some of the other kits. She's totally fine, it has never needed surgery.
