Around the bend!
I'm so glad little Linus didn't have to get surgery. I hope his little parts start feeling better soon and the swelling goes down. My boys did that to each other when they were little. I had a heck of a time keeping them off each others parts. Mike had some *sick* fun with the jokes he came up with when I would catch the boys...uhm...uhh...nursing privates. LOL I, sadly, would overfeed by a little bit and the nursing stopped for both of them. Good luck and my fingers are crossed that Linus' parts will be fine very soon!!

Aww thanks! I hope he gets better soon! I'm praying he heals up on his own and surgery won't be necessary. i cleaned him off really good and put a warm compress on him a few minutes ago when i fed him to help the swelling. before i put him to sleep for the night at their next feeding, i will put some cortizone and ky jelly on him to see if it helps like the vet said to do. / I have had to seperate Linus from Lily and Cali because it is too dangerous to take chances by keeping them together anymore trauma to the area according to the vet could have serious reprocussions. Also, with their health problems- i can not over feed them as it could cause issues. (The came to me severly malnourished- so their tummies are huge- kind of like something you would see on a child from an impoverished country who has been starved- they're soo underfed their bellies bloat.) so i keep a very strict feeding schedule- i record each and every ml they eat and log it and feed them at set times usually to try and get them back to a normal weight/size.
they're slowly improving but it will take a while according to the vet....so i'm just being careful with them. The reason Lily was suckling on Linus most likely is because kittens have that nautral suckling instinct to stay latched on to their mommys (for security between nursing) so that's what she was doing because the tissue in that part of his body is similar to the mommy's nipples -so according to my vet today it's easily confused at that age. Thanks for the vibes for Linus! I appreciate it! I'm hoping he gets back to himself in no time so he can go on to find a great forever home!!! He's such a doll!!! I'll have to try and borrow a camera so i can get some pictures for ya'll to see!

Just now finally getting over here to check on Linus -- what great news! I'm so glad he didn't have to be surgified.
Like everyone else, I'm in love with the poor little guy, and so eager to see pictures!

Please give Linus a smooch on the nose for me...

Oh golly, poor Linus! Glad to hear the problem wasn't much worse!

Keep an eye on Cali though, the litter of fosters I had, had a mother, but when they went back to the shelter to be spayed, they kept trying to suckle on mum who was getting annoyed, so we let mum have plenty of time in the play area on her own without them. When the kids were separated, we kept noticing one of them was constantly suckling on the nipples on one of the other kittens and it was getting all red and raw. So we had to separate the kittens as well.

So Lily may start trying to suckle on Cali's tiny nipples since she can't have Linus. Keep an eye on them

See how it goes, then if Cali is getting red nipples, but Lily isn't, then you can probably assume Lily is the only suckler, and let Cali and Linus hang out.

Good luck

Good luck
thanks sarah! i will watch and see
(at the moment and for a while- the vet said no contact with the sisters until little linus is completly healed up because it is so bad. so even cali isn't allowed around him to not chance it. i feel bad about it but it's the safest thing for him. i will watch little cali and make sure lily isn't messing with her.)

Just a little update on Linus tonight- he is still just as swollen as he was this time last night.
It's getting frusterating. I talked to the vet on the phone and she said to keep putting the cortizone on him through the weekend and give it some time to help the tissue stop swelling. If it's not better by Monday, she wants to see him. Other than that though, he seems to be doing well- eating well, playing, everything else a normal kitten would be doing
So i hope his little bottom clears up soon!

just a little update on Linus: he seems to be feeling fine now
he's playing like normal and walking around without too much pain/discomfort. He is still swollen but the swelling has reduced quite a bit. So i'm hoping it goes down all the way so the vet can just push everything back into place and he won't need any surgery or have any life-long problems as a result. (it was pretty bad). Other than that though, i think that little area looks better overall- the redness has definitely reduced
So i'm just hoping all continutes to go well!

Yay for Linus! I'm so happy he's doing better. Now you just need to go and borrow that camera **hint hint** so that we can see some pictures of him now that he's feeling better.
