Just got off the phone with Tammy and Shawn....

Seth will have surgery today at 12:30 to remove the infection from his lungs. He has pleural infusion, and the medicines won't do the job, they have to physically go in and scrape out the inflammed fluid in his lungs. They'll also put in a tube to keep draining the fluid out. Tammy said the doctors described it as trying to clean a canned ham.

He was hacking up a storm in the background, but still trying to find the remote control to change the TV station.
Just like a guy.

She said he will be moved to Pediatric Intensive Care afterwards, and be there for about a day.

I passed along all the support from TCS, she said she is thankful that everyone is thinking about them at this time. Things are looking up, now that they know what he has and how to treat it.

Yeah, apparently it is one step past pneumonia, and not moving around when you have pneumonia causes it to set in.

Poor fella is only 6.... he's sounding like a trooper though. Tammy said he was looking at her like "Yeah Mom, you said the LAST thing they did would make me feel better...

In your time zone, I guess the surgery is right now! I'm sending waves and waves of light for the little fella...

Yep, I just talked with Tammy and they took him back at 12:50 eastern time. Said about one hour to 90 minutes before they have him out and awake, so I hope to hear from her this afternoon before I leave work.

She said THANK YOU and
to everyone here for their prayers and thoughts. She is of course very emotional about her baby boy, but knows he is in good hands with the doctors.

A successful surgery!!!!! Just talked to Tammy, he is in the recovery room now.

Has two chest tubes coming out of 2 incisions, they got all the infection scraped out and cleared. Said he will be in Peds ICU for 2-3 days, then regular room til they take out the tubes in 2-3 more days.

The doctor said it went really well, and that Seth was quite the little trooper.

Again, Tammy and Shawn and the kids thank you all deeply for keeping them in your thoughts and prayers.
