Just got back from the vet. I saw that his arm was swollen this morning, dad doesnt take notice of these things and mum is at work. So atm i am lucky we got in early, it wasn't abscessed. The front arm was bitten, a puncture wound on either side. The back leg had a small chunk of skin missing. He was shaved, cleaned, had an antibiotic injection and we just cleaned him here, but he was licking the wounds anyway. Tablets for the next week should heal him up. The scabs were shaven off with the fur so now he can't go out at all till he's healed. I was just freaking out though, usually ive been out if any cats have gone to the vet, so this is the first time ive been in with Charlie. He hasnt been to the vet much in his life. Dad waited outside whiel i talked to the vet. I was almost crying. He was just meowing alot, but not freaking out. I just hate seeing him like that and im so p***** off with the neighbours
I need to protect my baby from their cats!!! But Charlie has been an indoor/outdoor cat for 8 years it would be hard to keep him in during the days for the rest of his life.

Grr

But im glad my baby should be okay

poor little fella!
i'm glad he will be ok. i know it might seem cruel to you- but keeping him indoors only would really be the safest thing for him and it would be in his best interest. it is possible to bring a cat entirely indoors, even after they've been indoor/outdoor for years- you just have to be patient and get past the meows and begging. once you do that, he'll adjust. also- if you do want him to go outside on occassion after he's better- get a leash and harness and teach him to walk on that - that way he can go outside for walks supervised with you to still get a bit of fresh air- and go back inside afterwards to the safety of your home
its a win win situation. he'll be safe and sound and he will also get some fresh air. i hope he gets to feeling better soon

The thing is i could put up with it, but my dad cant. He doesnt work, he is home 24/7. If charile meows to much, dad yells and hisses at him and i have to keep rescuing charlie and putting him in my room. But im not always here.

2 days since vet visit and he seems to be healing up quite nicely. When i played with his arm yesterday he didn't bite me, but just sort of looked at me like an angry little puss. He also cried when he was playing with diy da-bird when he tried to yank the feathers away from me. I feel really proud of myself that i can now give him tablets without having someone help me hold him or open his mouth. Dad says it is really hard to do and he makes chuckie choke (not bad but he puts the applicator to far in his mouth and he doesnt know what is happening)
because he is too rough. When i do it i give Chuckie scratches first, open his jaw, pop in the tablet with the syringe and rub his chin to make sure he licks. I think dads approach is get the cat down and get it done. Id rather pop the tablet onto his tongue than the back of his throat so i dont freak him out.

Hes such a beautiful thing.

Poor Charlie! I'm so glad he is feeling better. Seb was an indoor/outdoor cat for the first 10 years of his life and has adjusted to indoor life. Took some time. Their crying can be heartbreaking. I understand about your father though.

Is there any way you could build an enclosure of some type? I dream about making something like that for the kits if I ever get a yard of any kind. But then, I dream of having a one bedroom apartment!

I find the gentle touch works better with Seb, too. He doesn't like being "handled"

Id want to make a big one for charlie so he has plenty of grass and space to move about, he loves it outside. But since we moved house most of our backyard is paved and we only have a small section of grass along the back fence and around the clothes line. And i dont trust the neighbours either. If the kids behind us (we have three units behind our house) knew about the enclosure i know theyd be trying to climb up the fence to scare the crap out of my baby. And they play ball sports and keep kicking balls into our yard. Our other house had a huge backyard ALL grass. I wish we hadn't of moved *sobs*
