I was outside taking pic's of my flowers and heard a Squeek! Diesel had something cornered under a tarp outside. I went to lift the tarp and found a baby bunny...maybe 3 weeks old. It has a hurt lip but otherwise looks fine...Do you think that it's okay to let it go into the brush or do you think that I should try to find a rescue for it?

It should be OK to release, just like you're vet said. Wild bunnies do not fare well in captivity unless they are tamed right from birth.

Yup most baby bunnies die if you try to hand raise them. It has a better chance looking for it's mother.

It started Pouring rain right as I was getting ready to release the bunny. I found a nice warm place for it under the woodpile and left it to (hopefully) find it's way home. I hate when things like that happen. I know that it'll probably be fine but it was so little....

I further traumatized the poor thing by taking a picture of it before it left...wanted to show the kids how tiny it was....but I forgot to turn off the flash
I'll post it later if anyone wants to see

Thanks for the help

Oh, he's so beautiful! I hope he makes it... maybe you could mince up some carrots or celery or something and leave it for him, in case he doesn't know how to get home?

We have a lot of bunnies in the yard here, and when my nephew Grant was two or three years old, he and I used to go out in the evenings and look for them. Once we found one just sitting in a corner of the yard, having a little grass-and-clover salad, and he didn't run, so we were able to watch him for awhile.

Grant asked me, "Aunt Carol, is the bunny happy?" I told him I was sure he must be very happy, with this nice yard to live in where he knows he's safe. After a minute, Grant began hunkering down, bending to get lower to the ground.

"What are you doing, darlin?" I asked.

He said, "I want to see if the bunny is smiling."

If I'm not mistaken, thats not a baby. Its a full grown marsh rabbit. They only get to be the size of your hand. The problem with these little guys is that they tend to have heartattacks when they come into contact with humans. (more so the babies then the adults) They are very nervous little things... I have had to take two of them to a wild life rehab woman I know. I'm always afriad I'm going to literally scare them to death!

I agree! They wont live in captivity~take it from experience! My son rescued one last year from our cat and we tried to save it, and he lived maybe 2 days and then he passed on

Bless you for saving him though.
