Find People

OK I just came across this site and it's a little scary:

People Finders

Search for your own name (or anyone you know) and view the results (free, you have to pay for anything else).

In short I guess its based on property tax records, still though...

There are actually a LOT of web sites like that out there.
OMG!!!!!!!!! They have WAY to much info on me, and it is all definitely not from just property records!

Yea i knew of a couple of them. There's one that use to list your phone number and address, it was all based on the phone book.

(and no it wasn't google -> It was way more in depth than google. Shows my city, but no phone # or street address b/c I have a cell ).

I couldn't find me or my boyfriend, but my gramma.....woa
post #6 of 22
Yikes, that's scary!

WOW! The list of "possible relatives" floored me!

That's very scary.

I'm in the "list" industry, and every time you move, get a telephone (landline,) subscribe to a magazine, buy something from a catalog, etc., etc., you are put on a new list. These lists are "banged" up against other lists to "enhance" the data with information that is publicly available, i.e., birth and marriage records, etc.

It really isn't as freaky as you think it is, and these lists are NOT based upon social security information. They have been out there for YEARS.

Please, do NOT panic.

My name is so common that I was 92 on a list of 100. Not too freaky.

You can't find me on here or my sister! I found my bf, my mom and so on! Which is strange since my bf never had property tax we have rented on a shared lease! Oh well... Im ok with being invisible!

I found myself on there. It's really just basic information, nothing anyone could really use. I'm not worried.

I'm listed under my maiden name, but not my married name. What gets me is the age is way off! They have me as 17 years older than I actually am! The possible relatives was right on though.
I was listed under both my married name and maiden name. It had each of the city/state that I've lived in since about 1983. Since some of those addresses didn't have phone numbers, my bet is that this is post office address related.

I was expecting the link to be a pic of a monkey until I read some replies.

I found me but didn't see anything on possible relatives. What am I missing? I searched just using my name and location.

I wonder if there is anywhere where you can look if you are Canadian.

The thing that floors me is the associated names. I want to find out when and at what point boyfriend had the initial "O" in his middle name
post #19 of 22
I found some of my american relatives, but not all of them.

My name didn't show up at all- weird but all of my family's names did. they had a lot of the ages wrong on my family members though
