KatKwiz has special extra point days all the time, but you can never get less than 200. Please click on the link below if you have never read the rules. Today's question is from Alley and she wants to give double points to the winner if they have a Calico cat. Actually, if you have a Calico cat, you SHOULD be the winner!

Besides answering the question, you must show how you found it using TCS. To get the double points, you must have a Calico in your siggy.

As you can see from my siggy, I have a Male Persian and Female Calico cat. But, what is the percentage (numerical) of Persian-Calico cats that are male?

The answer (and how to find it on TCS) will be given tomorrow.

Attention, people from Australia and New Zealand!!!
Here is the next way that you can make 1000 points on KatKwiz: On Anzac Day, if you live in the appropiate country and are the first to answer the question correctly, you will receive 1000 points! Normally, KatKwiz never divulges when the next KatKwiz will be posted but in this case we want to make sure that our members in the appropriate countries have an equal chance so on Anzac Day, KatKwiz will be posted between 7and 9 a.m. Sydney time. Good Luck!

.1% are male... I did a search for "calico male" and found this thread...

and found this quote from GoldenKitty45....
Calicos are 99.9% females - the rare male genetically has an XXY chromosone.

99% are female while the male is 1% this is what i have heard on here so many times.
go to the top of this page and CLICK on search
type in male calico
hit enter
scroll down there are so many different ones that state this information , but only found one response about persians from dutchess saying there was a litter of persians and a male calico was in that litter.
i know this is wrong , but maybe it will help someone else find the right answer as i cant seem to find it.

I can't find the answer either. I found the answer of male calico's but nothing about persian-calico males. I even tried the links above on breeds and snips.

1) I clicked on 'Cat Snips' at the top of the TCS page

2) I scrolled down to the article 'Calico Cats'

http://www.thecatsite.com/Snips/200/Calico-Cats.html

3) This article says "Calico Persians are always female" in the text

So the answer to the katkwiz question is 0%

I'll shortly put a pic of my cherished calico Gizmo (RIP) as good luck in my sig!

(ETA- Just read that calico article with great interest actually...just wondering if Gizmo actually was a calico. I always thought he was and the vet said he was. He had patches of black and white. The article says 'calico Persians are always female and give birth to black-and-white [...] sons'. Just wondering if he falls in this category or the muted calico category? The xxy gene may explain why he had nipples? And why he was very 'motherly' towards kittens?Or actually was he not a calico? Confused)

1. Click SEARCH, type in Calico Genetics
2. Click Questions About Calico's Thread
3. Scroll through the post to Golden Kitty 45 thread and I quote "Calicos are 99.9% females - the rare male genetically has an XXY chromosone" which would mean .1% are males.
4. Click Cat Snips
5. Go to Calico Cats....read down where it says Calico Persians are ALWAYS female. So .1% Calico's are male, and 0% Calico Persians are male.

Just a reminder: Tomorrow's KatKwiz is worth 500 points or 700 points if nobody wins today. (I am not saying if we have a winner yet.)

And if you have missed this link, go read it now. It may make you point rich!

http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=123693

And, if you have not read the rules, read them now. Do not lose out on 500 or more points because you did not read the rules! (Click on KatKwiz below.)

You are the KatKwiz Whiz of the day. I am waiting to see if you have your siggy with a Calico up before the 12 hours are up to see if you are awarded 200 or 400 points.

Other contestants: The question was specific about Persian-Calico males. There are none. But there are male calico cats. This information can be found in the steps that minxie has outlined. Or you could also have clicked on Persian cats to get the same information.

Now hurry! KatKwiz #20 has already started!! 500 points!
