Meowing...

Shadow always follows me around (that's how she got her name), but it wasn't until a couple of weeks ago that she started meowing at me all the time. Nothing has changed in our routine, but she meows all the time. I don't mind it, I'm just curious as to what it means.

The only thing that I can think of is the fact that she traveled over Easter weekend. She meowed the entire two hour trip (usually she travels really well). We stayed in a house with three other kitties, and I guess she made friends.

What do you think?

I think she misses her friends - have you considered getting her another one to live with? Animals need others of their species around, just like we do, especially if you're gone all day.

It could be that she feels a little bit insecure after the travelling. Cats are very territorial and rarely enjoy travelling in the way that dogs do.

I would give her plenty of attention and if she's still doing in in a week or so, take her for a check up at the vets (one of my cats once became very noisy suddenly and a vet check up showed she was diabetic).

It wouldn't hurt to get her checked at the vet, just to rule out any health problems. Some cats can get sick from the stress of traveling, or she may have caught something from the other cats she was around.

If she doesn't have any problems, maybe you could consider getting her another kitty for a playmate?
