The road maintenance people scatter wildflower seeds around the medians in our area, and then they leave big swaths unmowed... so now our major streets are lined with lovely little wildlife preserves full of deep blue lupine and soft pink winecups and, best of all, tall red poppies!
Of course, they'll all be burned to a crisp by the merciless Texas sun in a month or two, but for the moment, it's nice.
