Even the more seasoned siggy makers had problems with that one (look at my bright fur, Hope's darker fur and Karen's 'painted' look!)

Ok I am not going to give this a go tonight because I am beat after a long weekend - however I do have a question...I am still getting the hang of working with multiple layers. What is this 'screening' you are talking about with the newer layers? Is this a setting somewhere I should look for?

When you make a new layer, you can change the type of layer (if the layer box is not open, click on window > layers and it will pop up. At the top left of that bos you can change the mode of each layer and on the right, the opacity and fill level.

I know it is small, but if you look on the bottom right of this image you can see the layers box (where I have the layer circled), where it says normal in the top right is where you change it

I thought Bella was very difficult, I have spent ages, only to end up with a poor washed out Bella.

None of really 'got' it - but a challenge shouldn't be too easy

Give the other thread a go colouring in is easier than you think!

I had another try at Bella:

First I made a copy and set it to soft light to get rid of the haze and flattened the image.

I then copied a piece of fur below the brighter part and copied it to a new layer and cut around the brighter part to shape it. I then coloured using hue/saturation it to closely match the colours around it.

I then used the lasso to cut around the non bright parts and set them to a new layer and set the layer mode to colour and changed the colour slightly to match the new patch over the brighter part better.

I then merged the two layers and copied this layer and set it to soft light.

On the lower merged layer, I used a soft edged brush to blur the fur and edges to make it look more natural.

I then chose a slightly pinky colour and used a soft edged brush on a new layer and coloured in various parts on her fur and used guassian blur at 30 to blur it and set that layer to hue for a more natural change in fur colour.

I cut out her eyes and coloured them a blue tone and set them to colour.

and then went back to my original layer with the background and set a layer to multiply at 60% opacity to darken the background

Here is my reworked version.

I took the easy way out with this one. I used the first one I made, and using the Dodge tool, I lightened up the areas where the hair seemed too dark. I think used the lasso tool and surrounded the area that was a bit too yellow/red and added small amounts of blue and cyan until it basically matched the rest of the hair. Then I took the lasso tool and selected each eye and added blue and cyan, then added some saturation to bring out her eye colour. Lastly, i added a duplicate layer and set it at Soft light, and Gaussian blurred it, flattened it, and that was that.

Ok, here is a more blurred version -

As far as what I did - I cut out parts of Bella and placed it over the whited out portions, and did lots of blurring, smudging and a bit of work adding color in with brushes.
