I'm asking an impossible question because I can't demonstrate the sound Simon makes (I can't even replicate in my throat).

Every now and then--usually never more than once per day--Simon makes a noise that's not like a cough or sneeze. It's a quick sound that seems to come from in his throat, not his mouth; when he makes this snuffling sound, he tends to shake his head, as though he were sneezing. I'm wondering if he could be having a reaction to dust (or something else)?

He does not have breathing/ eating/ eliminating problems whatsoever. He still vocalizes when I prepare his food, and he has no signs of a cold (discharge, etc.).

Thank you,

Jenk

If he is a Persian it is perfectly normal to have him sneeze from time to time as they have small sinus cavities. It could be dust or perfume or any number of things. As long as he is eating etc..OK then I wouldn't worry. If it becomes more frequently I would have him checked at the vet.

Simon is a Ragdoll. My vet did not seem concerned only because I assured her that nothing in Simon's behavior/ habits has changed. As any good kitty mommy, though, I will always keep a close eye on him.

Thanks,

My cat Rocket is a Siamese mix. His head isn't very wedged...I would say his nose is a little foreshortened compared to the average DSH.

Anyway, I have seen him do the big snuffled sneeze thing...ususally after he's been digging around in the grass. He likes to stick his face in his fresh hole and take a big sniff! haha! Then he'll sneeze.

But lately, he is sneezing all the time. I've been sick myself. I stayed home on Friday and he must have sneezed 7 or 8 times during the day. Could he have caught my bug?
