counting down until graduation!!
My 10 year high school reunion is coming up next month. I don't know if I want to go or not. Just wondering how many people went to theirs, and if you didn't, do you wish you had?? Just don't know.

I haven't been out of high school that long.

Actually, mine will be in 3 years.

I did not go to mine and neither did my DH, I was class of 95 he was class of 86. From what we both heard the 10 year is about the same as high school. No one has really changed that much yet. The cliques were still the same and it still had the same I am better than you atmospher. It seemed to me that the only reason people went ot my 10 year was to rub it in that their lives were better. From what I hear from my DH the real turning point is the 20 year. By that time you have been away long enough for real life to fully set in. Think about it most of the time the 10 year is spent in college and a new career. Life has not really set in for most people so it is still very high schooly. Does that make sence?
Its up to you though if you want to go, do it. No one will think any less of you. I am waiting till my 20 year to make an apperiance. I want to be the full adult that I am suppose to be before I go see those people again.

It makes sense waiting for the 20 year. I just decided to go back to college a couple of years ago, so I am still doing that and feeling slightly inadequate. We didn't have a 5 year either. I never cared much for the cliques in school. I really don't have the desire to go, I just don't want to regret it later, you know?

I don't even know if they had reunions, but if they did, I didn't go to the tenth, the twentieth, the thirtieth, or the fortieth, and I doubt I'd go to the fiftieth, either. My feeling is, you stay in touch with -- or reconnect with -- the people who matter to you. The rest could drop off the face of the earth and it wouldn't mean a thing to you or the other person. Not worth the effort.

I really do not like even going back to that town to visit family. The whole town is one big clique.
It's still a few years till my 10 year reunion but you can count me out. DH's is only a couple years away...suspect he won't want to go either (we went to the same HS).

If you're even asking yourself "do I want to go" then you probably don't want to.

No how! No way! I didn't like those people then, I am pretty sure I won't like them any better now. I was picked on unmercifully in school, and have no desire to see any of those people ever again. I can't think of one person that I graduated with that I would spit on if they were on fire. I have one person that I am still friends with, but he was not in my graduating class.

I didn't like most of the people in my high school either, sans my husband LOLOL!! We had about 320 in our class. I liked about 20. Those I still know, we had our own reunion over Christmas!! LOL

Hasn't been 10 yrs yet. Mine will be in 2009. But I'll likely not go. All my friends dropped out of school so they wouldn't be able to attend.

Over the river and through the woods...
I didn't go to my 10 yr reunion, and found out only about 15 people showed up (small class though..only 102). And, they were all the same clique
. I was out of the country for the 15 yr reunion but I did hear that was a success! This year will be the 20th. I am looking forward to that. I've lost touch with so many people and would love to catch up. To me, 5 and 10 year reunions are worthless. But thats just my opinion.

I didn't have a 5 year, and I have no desire to go to my 10 year. All my friends from high school were in the year ahead of me. I was quiet and kept to myself my senior year. They didn't bug me, nor did I them. A girl I was really good friends with in elementary and I walked together at graduation. She was going through a phase and didn't talk to anyone. I don't keep in contact. Those "friends" and I kept in touch when I moved, when I was in school, but wanted nothing to do with me when I moved back because "their "group was set". Oh well, all 3 of them never left the area, nor went to college, and all 3 of them work at the local casino.....funny how things turn out!

Mine was last fall. My friend went, but I didn't go. She came back saying that the food was horrible and nothing really exciting happened...just idle gossip.

Actually what helped my decision was finding most of these people on myspace. the ones on there were the ones I didn't care if I ever saw again.

There was a follow-up email to post pictures by those who didn't go. One girl (who did attend) post 54 pictures...all of herself. Can we say self-obsorbed?

I plan on going. My close friends I am still friends with and I've reconnected casually with a few people on myspace. I know most of the people I wouldn't care too much about seeing, but hey, I'm curious! It's only one night anyway. I'm looking forward to it!

I want to go to my 10 year, which won't be until 2014, but I still want to go. Even though I didn't like everyone, it's still fun to see people again and just have a fun night out. It is what you will make it!

In high school, I had a secret crush on a certain boy who was very smart, funny, and musical... and he looked like a young Neil Diamond, no less! But I was much too shy to profess my fascination, and after graduation, I never saw him again...

...until our ten-year reunion. I could hardly breathe, I was so excited about seeing him! Had he become a professional musician? A college professor? A doctor? He'd been in my advanced physics class -- maybe he was working in the NASA space program!

~ sigh ~

He had become the slovenly, beer-bellied owner of a sleazy local nightclub. And late in the evening, when he was thoroughly drunk, he came over to my table and revealed that he'd had a secret crush on me.

So my advice is, go to your reunion -- but be emotionally prepared for some of your fondest fantasies to bite the dust.
