Okay, so I'm farting around on YouTube, saving some coveted music vids to my favorites. And, something compells me to save Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up." And, as I'm starting to think how the lyrics relate to my students with special needs..., I find myself crying like a blubbering idiot.

And, to add insult to injury, I then feel compelled to listen to Celine Dion and Barbara Streisand's "Tell Him," and while I DETEST Celine, I ADORE THIS SONG...and then the beautiful harmony sends me past the blubbering point, and then into gut-wrenching sobs. No, I am not kidding. I am literally snotting all over myself from these two songs.

Yes, I'm a big old sap. And, just to keep it interesting, I'm a self-professed heavy-metal lover.

Awww we won't tell anyone
Off the top of my head, I'll have to say "Beaches" soundtrack. Especially "I Think It's Going to Rain Today". My best friend and I saw that movie together in our early 20s.

So am I, a metal lover, not a sap.
There's the occasional song that makes me a bit sad but overall I really don't listen to sad stuff.
I was listening to a Sonata Arctica song earlier that made me go "
".
lyrics - "Father said "I'm sorry" only once, as I remember. "Words weren't meant to hurt, only destroy you my stupid son"."
Queensryche - Bridge makes me sad and kind of

A song that always brings tears to my eyes is Kilkelly by Peter Jones (I love the Moloney, O'Connell & Keane version). The song is based on letters Jones found in the attic of his parents, his greatgreatgrandfather in Ireland sent them to his greatgrandfather who moved to America because of the potato famine. The song is so sad because it describes the poverty of the people "back home" and the seperation of family members.

Well "the wind beneath my wings" was played at one of my brothers funerals so that gets me. "Free bird was played at my other brothers and at my 3rd brothers "its so hard to say goodbye" was played at his funeral. "Concrete angel and Gods WIll choke me up still.

Strange -- I first heard that Kilkelly song just last month. My brother is a musician, and for a St. Patrick's Day gig, he asked a friend who is into Irish music to sit in with him. This fellow has the most exquisite voice (he's a former pro, used to be in the old band Mason Dixon), and he sang "Kilkelly." My parents and I were sitting at a table nearby, and all three of us just dissolved. As the song ended, the waitress came by to see if we needed anything, and I looked up with mascara-streaked tears pouring down my face and said brightly, "No, thanks, we're fine!"

Yes, that is one heartbreaker of a song.

Bridge over troubled waters. Go rest high on that mountain (by Vince Gill). Those are two that bring tears to my eyes every time!

Josh Groban's Don't give up (you are loved) song makes me cry and depressed each time I hear it. I love a lot of his songs, but no other song can effect me like this one. Why? Because it puts my thoughts and feelings into words I can't even begin to describe...
