Well, I just thought someone might like to check out this link here about declawing. Me and alot of other people on TCS do not believe in declawing cats, check out this website that I just found.

http://amby.com/cat_site/declaw.html

I guess this would be a good thread for others to chat about declawing/not declawing

NOTE: The way I found this website is because I did a search for "cat tree plans" to see what I could find
This website also has instructions on how to build a cat tree. Maybe we should post this link in threads that deal with cat trees? Feel more than welcome to do it

Have you checked out any of the declawing resources on TCS? The site you have posted is included along with quite a few more.

This topic has been debated to death on here, but I think the TCS official stance, which is part of the forum rules, says it all:

3. This website considers declawing a drastic way to curb cat behavior. A painful ordeal for your kitty we would suggest that declawing never be considered for any behavioral issue. Health issues are entirely different. It is up to you as a responsible pet owner to explore all the different options available instead of declawing. Your cat is dependant on you to make wise choices for her, and not put her into any more stress or discomfort. Please be a responsible pet owner and research this subject thoroughly. Understand that if you are pro-declaw in your posts, you will encounter opposition. Please learn more about alternatives for declawing here in our forums as well as on our website itself. Declaw - More than Just a Manicure. Hopefully those of you with claw-related problems will find solutions by spending time in our Behavior Forum.

Just this morning I was asking my cousin about how many cats her brother has had at one time -- she said they had as many as 8 but 5 have passed away. I said it was remarkable that 8 cats actually got along and did not fight. She said "well, they were all spayed and declawed so that helped."

Where I live, most people think I am nuts for not declawing my cat. The lack of understanding about this procedure just drives me crazy. I really, really think that the responsibility lies with shelters and vets to educate people.
