Hello,

I would be grateful if someone could enlighten me into the benefits of raw feeding? My kitty is 6.5 months old, would that be too young to raw feed? Is raw feeding the frozen stuff you can buy or do you make it yourself? How do you know how much to feed? More importantly, is it better for your kitty? Can't think of anymore questions. Thanks if anyone can advise!!

It's never too young to feed raw, so don't worry about that! Many raw-feeding breeders wean the kittens directly onto raw food from the mothers milk!
You can buy pre-made raw in some stores, or you can make it yourself at home. Same concept, both are raw feeding. There are many different philosophies to feeding raw, from pre-made frozen ground up food, all the way to feeding whole-prey model.
The guideline for raw food is approximatley 2-3% of the cats body weight (but this is for adult cats. It's more for kittens), so figuring out how much to feed does involve a bit of math

Is it better for your kitty? Most definatley. Biologically appropriate nutrition is the best thing you could feed.

First of all.....you really want a vet who knows about raw feeding to help you on this. That is the easiest way.

If you make your own, there are guidelines to follow & supplementing to do. I feed premade Nature's Variety Raw, with only salmon oil added to it. It relieved a lot of my kitties health problems....actually, we haven't had a recurrance of any of her health problems since starting on raw & raw is the one thing that improved her urine pH when prescription diets didn't.
