Happily your house is being guarded from such monsters by Teddy the great and terrible bug killer. I have Sassy the great Gray Cricket Hunter....Seriously if he even thinks there may be a cricket in the house he will spend hours looking for it.
I install a cricket sound effect on my computer for those times when I need to work and he is being a big suck. I play it once and he is off on Safari and I can get my work finished.

EWWWWWWW!!!!!! Our old kitty LOVED those huge grasshoppers!! They are the only creature that turns my stomach, I absolutely hate them.

Our Bonnie would get them and you could hear him crunching on them!
So gross.

That is a nifty grasshopper! I haven't seen on in ages. We did have praying mantis on our porch not too long ago, though. Way to go Teddy... Godiva is on my shoulder looking at you longfully because you look so manly in that last picture.

However, I would have caught it and given it a little habitat. I'm weird like that.
I've even caught tadpoles and pond minnows to raise them.

Aww, that's so sweet of you!

I like the first pic, where you can see Teddy's terrible claws hovering in the background, about to strike!

I knew I shouldn't look
...my fault, though...you warned us.

The worst I've seen was a HUGE locust hanging out of Leopold's mouth...just as soon as I realized where the noise was coming from, he swallowed it.
zzzzz-uuhh-zzzzz-uhhhh-zzzzz-uhhhh, GULP! LOL
