This last time though was pretty awesome. I stuck a $10 bill into a machine and it wasnt working so I cashed out and well it gave me like over $300!!
I know, its just a *dream* but now I have the "itch" to go!!

If you are sure this is not all part of some secret gambling addiction
, then go enjoy yourself.

Just be careful! Know when to call it quits.

Good luck

I have never really felt the urge to gamble to be honest and I worry about the people who get 'hooked' on it. But if it is something that you really want to do then I don't see why not. I would suggest that you set a strict budget of how much you would like/can afford to gamble and stick to it. That way you can have some fun without the worry that you have got yourself in a financial mess. That would be my advice on it!!! If you go have a great time

Well, since you have posted here about your recent financial troubles and problems with your DH, I personally wouldn't recommend going on a gambling adventure. Things like that would keep me at home trying to make things better for me and my family, not out spending money I didn't have to spare on a risky venture.

JMHO. You asked.

I worked in a casino for almost 2 years, had never been in one before that. Seeing all the people losing their money day after day cured me of any interest I might have had! lol

Before you consider gambling, please remember that casinos are carefully set up to ensure that the house always has a decisive advantage. You are far more likely to lose than to win.

That's the practical argument. The moral argument is this:

Casinos play on our most vulnerable emotions to take from us not only our hard-earned money, but in many cases also our dignity and our self-control. They hold out a hope that is almost entirely false, and with that hope, they lure us into making them rich at our own expense. They are not honorable enterprises.

Sheesh. Sorry I mince words so. I'll try to be more direct next time.

Nope, I don't think you should
If you're feeling lucky, get a lottery ticket, you're less likely to spend as much1

Go for it!!! Only take $1,000-$2,000 and nothing more (if your financial situation allows). (I assume this is Vegas), this should include hotel, food, tips, transportation and gambling money. Once it is all done, go home. Don't use your ATM or CC to cash out. Only spend what you take. Good luck to you and hope you win millions!!!!

I visit Vegas about 12+ times per year at least and I usually just play for fun and never really wins anything. Usually i just go for the food and the atmosphere.

Ah - I didnt know about your financial troubles when I posted earlier. Maybe not so much a good idea then? It all depends on your financial resources and if you are doing it as a one-off for a bit of social fun or whether you are thinking its a way of making money. If its the latter, its only the gambling houses that make money.

Im not a gambler at all, but did enjoy once getting dressed up and going to a casino for the evening with friends. I hardly spent any money, just a little to have the experience of playing at a casino.

This kind of thing is really only 'good' for social reasons, when you can afford it and you know you are not going to make money. For any other reasons, you risk losing money you cant afford to and, in the worse case, developing an addiction to gambling.

Over the river and through the woods...
Take it from someone who has lost much more than she has won. Take a set amount of money (put whatever you need back for transportation). Do NOT take ATM cards, credit cards or check book! Cashing out for $300 on a $10 bet is awesome, but happens very rarely.

When my mom died, I started playing the poker machines and went through her entire 401K in 4 months ($38,000). You keep thinking the machine will "hit", but most of the time it doesn't.

Just be careful. If you are financially strapped, the jackpot isn't the answer. It took me a long time to figure that out.

Now, I'm not against gambling. My husband and I still play the machines occassionally. But, we do it when we can afford it. The rush of winning can be great but it can be dangerous too.

Yeah do it!! Its really fun. You just can't go expecting to win...because if you don't win, you'll leave all mad that you lost money.

I recently gambled in Ottawa and I won a little bit...It was so exciting!! I had a horseshoe up my bum that night, I kept winning here and there

Keep in mind, I NEVER spend more than $20...I am a slots and horse races girl, so it lasts me a while. Just don't spend too much, and you are golden!

Good luck!

Well, I guess you didn't really need our advice that you asked for after all, since you had decided to go already.

Glad you didn't lose money at least. I don't think you need that burden on you right now.

I feel like I work too hard for my money and free time. I can never bring myself to gamble. I had never gambled and then went to Vegas a couple years ago. Even in Vegas when I won semi-big within minutes, I took it and for 5 days (the rest of the trip) I didn't have the urge to gamble again. Still haven't
