Blue Jays commercial

I'm curious what you guys think about this.....

A commercial featuring Frank Thomas, a Toronto Blue Jays designated hitter, demonstrating that homerun swing in a pillow fight with his son (or a kid cast to play his son, anyway) has been edited on some networks after being deemed too aggressive by the Television Bureau of Canada. The CBC contiues to run the full ad.

I think it's clearly in fun and is being taken too seriously. Real abuse exists, but this commercial is not it, nor do I think it makes light of it. Everyone in the commercial is having fun, lots of smiles.

What do you think?

cant see the video at work, will check it out when i get home. but just wonder who has not had a pillow fight? hehe i used to have them my uncles and or grandfather when i was little. i seem to remember they wher a lot of fun.

Wow, that's the video they've been talking about on the news? I saw it a few times (before it was edited) and didn't think anything about it. I certainly didn't think it was abusive ... It simply follows the theme of the other sports commercials: that these guys are always playing the game. Huh.

That's IT? I laughed at it and I can see how as Mirinae said it just embodies the "They're always playing the game" mentality.

We are way too sensitive in this country toward toward the wrong things and not sensitive enough toward the right things.

Having seen the original advert the first thing I said was 'wow they allowed that to air'. IMO the idea was great but there was always going to be backlash from how hard he hit the kid with the pillow

It's a PILLOW...not a bat.

Unless there was a brick in that pillow its not demonstrating abuse.

They even went to the trouble of having the kid pop up, unharmed, at the end to marvel over Frank's ability.

The original advert shows the child being hit really hard and he does not get up, it was edited several times since I have seen it on TV.

Personally, to me, its only TV and obviously a child actor would not be allowed to be hurt in it.

Well I think the kid getting up at the end with that impressed look on his face should settle down anyone who thinks it's abusive at all.
I think we've gone too far in our society and are over-sensitive to these things. And that's coming from someone with a violent father.

nope, I seen it on TV and thought 'wow they allowed that' then a few nights later the kid was standing up. If I come across it I will post

Now how cool would the Iraq situation be if we replace their guns with pillows. Their bombs with feathers...


Anyways, errr...OK I can see if the kid didn't get up that you could take it in a bad way. The kid getting up does help. Or maybe the little kid smacking the dad back and knocking him down.

I was reading that they actually changed the commercial so that he doesn't say "Woah, nice hit" as if that's advocating the violence.
