hi.
I've been sick with a really bad cold for about a week and a half now. Now, I have been to the doctor, and they did take a swab, but he told me there was just fluid in my ears (no surprise) and to go home with some deconjestants. Basically what's happening is my ears are clogged and my throat is sooo swollen.
I'm having a hard time getting rid of the pain this morning, even with some extra tynol over my cough suryp.
I don't have time to go back to the doctor, nor do I think it'd help.
Anyone have any throat soothing/ear declogging secrets they could pass my way? I'm dyin here!
Painfully yours,
Jess

For sore throat - Hot Toddy. Tea, honey, lemon if you want, and a splash of whiskey. Even if it doesn't help your throat, after a few of those you won't care.
(Actually, though, it really does help)

For clogged ears - nose spray. Even the OTC stuff like Afrin will help. (I get clogged ears when my allergies get bad, so my dr. gave me samples of Nasocort and Rhinocort, which are nasal steroids, to use when it gets bad. So far it has worked wonders!)

ummm...this may sound rediculously stupid but... what orphase would you put that in?
I'm kind of scared of nose sprays, my dad had a girlfriend who was addicted to them one time and the stories alone have kept me from ever trying them.

A hot toddie doesn't sound bad though. Does he come with the drink?

Nose spray does work great and isn't addictive unless you use it long term.

I flew from Wa. state to Huston,Tx. one time with a horrid cold. When we landed my ears were all stuffy to the point that they really hurt. Nose spray fixed the problem in minutes so it seems worth a try.

In reply to your question about where to put it, I think it would probably work best in your nose

I don't know...thought you might put it in your ear!

The doctor said that it wasn't bacterial and took a swab incase. Said they'd call if it was and I haven't heard from them.
I've been spending time in a nice warm shower with the water running behind my ears. that helps. Today I feel like I could take a bottle brush and scratch the inside of my ears (figuratively, I'm not a total dumby it's ok)

I don't think studying my computer course is helping either...blah

time for tea, I think, don't you?
