I thought it was allergies almost 3 weeks ago when this congestion got worse and the sneezing wouldnt quit. I finally bit the bullet and went into an allergist that one of my coworkers sees.

They gave me a bunch of meds last wednesday to take care of the symptoms that were going on then and told me to come back today for an allergy test.

108 pricks/needle sticks later:

Im allergic to Pine (high reaction) Sycamore, and Birch; a bunch of weeds, molds, and dust mites (high reaction-- worse reaction than anything else). I told the dr on my first visit about my pets and he said I would probably have to get rid of them if i came back allergic. I told him he better medicate the crap out of me if i am allergic to animals cause they werent leaving!

Thank goodness they didnt even show a reaction onthe test.

As far as foods, it showed I was allergic to dairy (so thats why my tummy doesnt like me when i drink milkshakes!) very high reaction to soy ( i only like soy sauce lol never liked other soy products anyway) and Peanuts! OMG I eat an organic PB&J sandwich on whole wheat bread every morning for bfast and almost every other nite for supper. Dr said that my peanut allergy should be fine but if i start reacting worse to let him know and we will work on it then.

DH doesnt understand that allergies arent always something you are born with but something that you can acquire later in life. He thinks Im making it all up. Now he thinks that since im allergic to PB that it is what is causing my acne! ( im not sure on that but ill ask dr next saturday at my appt)

Dr wants to start me on serum shots for the environmental stuff. Over $1000 out of pocket before they can even make my serum! we dont have the money for that right now. Ill have to take a second job to afford treatment!

Dr also said that he can teach me to give the shots myself so I can give them at home-- At $40.00 per copay visit ( times 2 visits per week for 6 month min) I think I may just have to self inject.

Went to fill my RX for my twinject (epi-pen) at walmart today and they dont even keep them in stock! i was appalled! They have to order it for me. http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/ima...s/confused.gif

I pick up my pills and new nasal spray in the morning at 8 am so we will see how these help.

Joy Joy! http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/ima...s/rolleyes.gif
I love new experiences-- but at least im not near as miserable as i was two weeks ago!

I feel better this morning after starting my meds last nite. I can actually speak right now in my normal voice without being hoarse. I have been hoarse to varying degrees for going on 4 weeks now. So that is nice. Im not as congested as I have been but the shot they gave me yesterday will only last a couple more days. Hopefully the meds can take over sufficiently enough when the shot wears off.

Aaaaah, that stinks. Those allergy tests don't sound very fun at all. At least you know now what makes you feel crappy.

Allergy tests aren't fun!
I am currently having the serum shots done. I have been going every week for 7 months and have an appt on Monday to see if I am ready to go every other week instead. Luckily, I do not have a copay for the shots.

What medication are you taking?

On the news the other day it was reported that this is a very bad year so far for allergies.
I did not develop any allergies until I was 18 but in the past few years they have abated quite a bit I rarely have to take any meds if I do its OTC stuff.

Im on Nasonex in the morning, Nasacort AQ in evenings, allegra d and prednisone for right now-- I go back for a one week follow up on Sat the 21st and to start my serum shots too i think. It will be twice a week serum shots for 6 months he said then once per week. Im going to talk to him about doing the shots at home so i dont have to spend all that money.

We shall see...
