I agree with that, although here in the UK we just have Burmese, I imagine that is what you all call European Burmese!

The first one is definitely NOT an oriental shorthair, my Sonic is a blue OSH and although he is not a perfect example of his breed you can see in my sig that he doesn't look like the first cat facially. I think it is a Russian Blue - they tend to have a 'smile' due to the shape of muzzle and mouth, whereas OSH usually have quite serious and intense looking faces. If that makes sense, I am sure it is not the terminology a show judge would use but it works for me as a description

I have a dear breeder friend in Ireland who says the exact same thing! BUT, she does qualify when she talks about the "American" Burmese!!!!

I actually wanted to put Sonic in the bonus thread - but decided that since most of TCS knows that he's a blue OSH, he's be a giveaway!

Sorry for the slight derail, but what are the differences between them?

Think Siamese vs. Colorpoint Shorthairs. Same thing - Burmese only come in four colors : Sable, Champagne, Blue and Platinum (per CFA). E. Burmese run the whole gamut of colors.

BUT it goes further than that. There is a distinct difference (at least to me) in the doming (the forehead). The Burmese (American) have a slightly knobbly head which can actually be seen in pictures whereas the E. Burms have a smoother dome.

Maybe GK can add more
