Neet - I know most of the established breeds. I do have trouble with the newer ones like Bengals (tho I'm getting good at comparing to Ocicats), LaPerms, Selkirk, and some of the other ones that are shown in TICA and not elsewhere.

Now I DO know the difference between a bald sphynx and a cornish rex.

And I can tell the difference between devon and cornish - even bad examples

I don't often catch this thread when there is a fresh picture (or 4!) and it is doing my head in

Most have the breeds in the right order...it's just that one of the cat's color is wrong and almost everyone has the same cat's color wrong
.

But, to make everyone happy ...
... I'm putiing an easy pic in now until someone gets the 4 pic bonus post right!!!!

No breed, 150 points for right color.

What color is this cat?? (And if everyone gets it wrong then I'll scream!
)

I can't even guess on the hard four this time. The only one I am familiar with is the LaPerm. LaPerms occurred from a natural genetic mutation in a litter of barn kittys that were actually born bald. They also can have a really weird shed each spring where they actually almost go nearly bald too. I know this one because it is another breed that I placed as a resce. So a little cheating on the LaPerm for me.... but the Rex's I have no clue.

Can someone explain the differences between Devan, Selkirk and Cornish? Since they look like orientals with the long, lean , body type, I am guessing the colors would be described the same,

So kitty A would maybe be a Chestnut and kitty B a cinnamon.

Now I have to research Rex's because I know nothing about them!

White cat lover.....welcome to the game!

Color looks a bit off on my screen, but I say its a blue mctabby DSH. It could be a lilac but if its a mix, that's unlikely, so I'm sticking to blue (light pale shade).

The person that asked about the difference in rexes.

Cornish - think of the cat as a "greyhound/poodle" - its built like a greyhound dog - long body, legs, tail and tuck up - natural curved back. the head is "egg" shaped with tall ears.

Devon - shorter and a little more stockier looking then the Cornish - NO tuck up - head is a pixie looking with large, wider ears and shorter muzzle.

Selkirk (not totally familar with standard) but I think its more of an American SH body - medium boned, stocky, rounder head. Selkirk comes in both long and short hair. The Cornish/Devon rexes only come in shorthair. Believe me you would NOT want to see a longhair cornish - I've seen two and they are not pretty at all
