Mimosa,

Look along the shoulders and sides at the red - its a dark red. Not the typical shading in a brown tabby. Also it seems to be a hint of reddish right around the neck near the ear.

Not positive (since the picture is not on this page and I'd have to go back) but it looks like a small amount of red on the nose.

I really do not think its just a brown tabby. There's more to the cat. I'll look again, but I really looked a few times figuring out if its brown or its a patched tabby with some deep red mixed in the coat.

I am floored! I can't believe I got them right. I guess it pays to go with my gut. I went back and forth on the Wegie and Maine Coon. but I went with my gut.

I love the big kitties

I'm a night bird - always have been
. I usually go to sleep at 3-4am anyway - 4 hours will do for me and if it's a long night (too many rosettes to make) I don't sleep. I also take an hour's worth of afternoon nap
.

I have heard of the term American Longhair before but it's not used (at least in my research) by any Registry - also, American Longhairs is the early term for Maine Coons.

GK, there's no red in the cat! Just a color illusion!

OK here's my guess:

A: Chocolate Cornish Rex
B: Red Cornish Rex
C: Blue & White Selkirk Rex longhair (can see slight tabby M on head but markings not well defined enough on rest of body as far as I can see)
D: Red tabby & White LaPerm shorthair

I thought that's what you meant. But I think that's just some rufousing on an otherwise cold tabby. It is the same pigment that would make a cat red, that's true.

It would be very, very unusual for a cat with this much white to be a patched tabby and not show at least some clear patches of red. I for one can't think of any black tortie tabby & white cats that look like that.

OK, now I'll go and read up on Rex types

1. Cornish Rex - chocolate
2. Devon Rex - red tabby
3. LaPerm - blue mackeral tabby with white
4. Selkirk Rex - red mackeral tabby with white

I know I'm like totally wrong, but it was fun!
