But in this case, there IS striping in the red...white needs to be mentioned!
So I thought I read somewhere once that a red cat always has stripes, but they might not show as much (as in an Aby). Is this true? My calico doesn't seem to have stripes in her colored parts...

Okay, according to acfa, it's tortoiseshell with white, but the site I was looking at said white was a part of the tortie pattern.

That was for the previous pic, not this one...

CFA Definition of Tortieshell for American Wirehair:

TORTOISESHELL: black with unbrindled patches of red and cream. Patches clearly defined and well-broken on both body and extremities. Blaze of red or cream on face is desirable. Eye color: brilliant gold.

The cat has too much white to be a pure tortie so the white MUST be included!

Will go with a CREAM tabby and white - not Red.

Because the tail and legs are cream tabby spots. Sometimes creams will be "hot creams" which is a little darker then it should be (like around the head). The tail/legs are far too pale in color to be considered a red (even a pale red).

Almost every red will have some tabby markings. Its more noticable on a shorthair cat. The longhairs can hide the tabby markings better.

CatsareBetter - the platniums are the palest and the least amount of contrast either way - you really have to go by the eye color on them for point/mink.

The natual minks are more of a solid color with darker points. I would just go with the eye color to be sure.

Funny thing was the breeder/owner of the one in question told me the kitten had aqua eye color when young and went to light blue (kitten was 6-7 months old). I've never heard of that before - usually the other way around. But she did have blue eye color - not aqua. I think they originally thought she would be mink; she had to be corrected in the show to point.

What color Tonk are you getting?

It is the unusual and rare breed and color of:

Furry masked albino ghost frog from the red desert with native mud camoflauge (sp)...known only to be active at night due to it's unusual coloration and need to check all soft and cushioned areas for potential threats to it's comfort and relaxation time during the daylight hours. This particular specimen can be seen lounging but still alerted to distant movement of the horrible cushion thieves that lurk in the area.

The furry masked albino ghost frog is also creative in leaving it's white coat behind it on everything it touches, to further discourage occupation of it's favorite lounging spots. It is so adept at this behavior that one would never know it's actually a defense.

All right, that might have been a bit overboard, but I am at work and I needed some amusement...

Oh boy am I in trouble! With the exception of GoldenKitty45 who got the ACTUAL color right (100 points for you), I am having trouble awarding the 100 measly points for most creative! Let them roll!!! I may just have to give all of you (and future replies) the 100 points!!!
