Help !! My 8 month old Birman Redpoint has just started to poop next to his litter tray. We have two cats , they were brought up together, have always used the litter tray before and no changes in the household.

This is the first time of having cats and are completely baffled. Also he seems to be abit down in the dumps aswell

He along with the other cat was neutered about 4 weeks ago!
Any ideas anyone..........please !!!

Hmm. That sounds like a kitty way of telling you something is wrong. Either he's feeling poorly or he's stressed.

Have you changed foods, brands of litter, position of tray or even air fresheners?!?

If everything is exactly the same as was, I really would think about a vet visit, just for your own peace of mind.

We haven't changed anything so i think we'll take your advice and pop him off to the vets

Is the litterbox too small? If it isn't the largest size litter box they sometimes position themselves "wrong" in the box and miss. I'm sure they have grown alot since you brought them home! This is sometimes the problem, just to be safe do take them to the vet to be sure.

I'm thinking on the same lines as Dragon Lady... I used to have a small litterbox when my cats were small and as they started to grow I noticed more accidents. When I changde to a bigger box it didn't happen again. But a trip to the vet is definitely a good idea too

Bagpuss in this forum look at the top where it says inappropriate peeing problems and read there.

Also take your kitty to the vet to be sure nothing medically is going on with him.
