Hi all!
Ok bit of history my partner and I took Sarah to the vet a couple of weeks ago, for a swollen nose...the vet had no idea of what could have caused the swollen nose so he gave her a anti-inflammatory the swelling went down within a couple of days. The vet thought it may have been a spider bite or something like that, she is an indoor cat and we do get spiders occasionaly inside, but we normally catch them and put them back outside.
She has got the swelling back again, but this time is mainly just around the end of the nose.
Could this be an allergic reaction to something? Has any of you had this with your cat? Before you all ask no it is not impeding her breathing at all, and I will be taking the cat to the vet.

I don't know what it could be. I don't want to scare you, but I lost a cat to a blood clot in the brain, and her only symptom was swelling of her nose. So if I ever saw that again, I would go right back to the vet...that probably is NOT what is it, but I'll always worry.

Aww... which I could offer some advice, but I've never heard of that. The fact that it isn't going away and continues to return would worry me. I would do some research on the internet and then press the vet for answers while you are there.

beandip- I too worry about things like this...sorry to hear that you lost your cat

The swelling has gone down a little, but still I want to take her to the vet but the boyfriend holds the purse strings at the moment and he wants to see if it will go down by tonight
and if it dosen't then we are going to take her to the vet, but I want to take her to the vet now damit!!

2furbabies- I went and did some research and only thing I came up with on the internet from looking into swollen noses, was abcesses...the swelling was really hot....ohhhh I'm going to bug the hell out of my boyfriend to take her to the vet.

This cat is weird, but that what I love about her...she is just soo different you can even hold a conversation with her.

Ok my boyfriend and I took Sarah to the vet....she has laringitis (I think thats how you spell it) so the vet has given us this paste to settle it down, but as for her nose swelling he had no idea of what it could be
so he just gave her a anti-inflammatory injection again. If Sarah gets the nose swelling again we are going to take her to another vet for another opinion.

I hope this injection does the job.
Hopefully the swelling will not return. I think you have a good plan, regarding the 2nd opinion if the swelling returns. Keep us updated please.

My young cat has been getting a swollen upper nose  then it goes away.  Well tonight it is back and really big and was patting her.  She jumped down and came back and she is white and had blood coming from the swollen area so I squeezed it and pus came out.  Will have to take her to vet tomorrow.  We have another cat a year older than that plays with her nonstop so maybe she scratched her.
