Well im probably the only one. I can't find them in Aus, and i thought instead of paying for it and shippage to Aus AND having to wait, i made my own! I went to my art shop and bought a 36" wooden dowel just under 1cm thick, a packet of turkey feathers, and some jewellery links. I pushed the feathers into the links, hot glued them in place, attached some nylon string (purple of course and not too thin so kitty doesn't hurt him/herself), hotglued the other end of the string onto the end of the dowel then touched it up by neatly wrapping black tape over the end of the dowel and the feathers so you can't see the glue and metal. Now i know it isn't as good as the real thing, from the pictures i've seen. But Jasmine was following me into every room, hunting my new creation!

I got her up onto mum and dads bed because she like the crinkly sound the doona makes, and she went around in circles chasing this thing. The way i made it if i swing it across, instead of the feathers hanging down, they actually swoop across, the taped up end acts like a nose. She just had her daily dose of excercise!

As for Charlie, he apparently has outgrown his kitteness, and prefers to chase a pencil or hands across the bed.

It actually did look more like da bird when i first made it, i used thin nylon string, but i was worried about it hurting Jazzy. So now i have this purple stuff

(kitties are curled up in the lounge, so i used a stand in) :p

This is a smaller one which is only a foot long, a little teasing one

hang on a sec *runs into lounge* oo she was in the other bedroom well...mum said i wasn't allowed to tease her as she was all sleepy...so no toy in the pic, but kitty woke up for some pictures

There's no place like home
The one thing that makes Da Bird different than most wand toys is the fact that they attach the feathers to something that I'll call a spinning fishing lure attachment. It's a metal clip that swirls in circles as you waggle the Bird around. If you were to swing it in a full 360 degree circle, the feathers spin on their own, making it look like a bird in flight (sort of).

If you can get to a fishing store, look for lures that spin in the water and you'll see what I mean.

I was actually looking for them yesterday
this wont be my first one, as it's my first try i need to improve it. But i like that i can choose how to design it. And if Jasmine already goes crazy, imagine how she will be when i make improvements!

Here... or There... Hmmm
Both of those are quite nice!! I have not gotten Kitters a Da Bird thus far but did just order her a new toy which I should hopefully get in the next couple of days and we will see how she likes it. Glad to see your furry girl enjoyed it even if it wasn't name brand!
